Gaetano Donizetti was already on the stage of the Théâtre des Italiens with works such as Anna Bolena, Lucia di Lammermoor and Marino Faliero but it still lacked the recognition of 'big shop', namely the Royal Academy of music. It is made in 1840 with the creation of La Favorite, first grand opera in the French of the Bergamo composer. Despite a reception on the evening of the first, the book marks the climax of the presence of Donizetti in Paris: it will be the most played Italian composer in the capital between 1835 and 1845. The Favorite will have nearly 700 performances at the Opéra until 1918, time where the vocal requirements of the partition and the changing tastes of the public in favour of the Verismo and Wagnerian directories the plummet into relative oblivion. Other countries like the Italy or the Spain will maintain the directory this majestic book in its Italian version.

Juan Diego Florez chose the Monte-Carlo Opera addressing the role of Fernand, written for Gilbert Duprez, the creator of Arnold in Guillaume Tell by Rossini.
This role, prerogative of the leading tenors belcantistes, should represent a milestone in the career of the Peruvian tenor.
