From 24 to 27 July, the Ballets de Monte-Carlo Company will perform CHORÉ by Jean-Christophe Maillot. Widely acclaimed on its creation in 2013, this piece explores the contrasting world of American musical theatre and provides a moving reflection on dance's possible place in an increasingly rational world. By transposing this ballet from the great stage of the Grimaldi Forum to this more intimate setting at the Monte-Carlo Opera, Jean-Christophe Maillot gives the audience a new version of this rhythmic and inventive work. With the audience sat just a few metres from the dancers CHORÉ capitvates through scenes with a rare intensity. The stage design, costumes and music combine with the dance to produce a perfect balance and bring this "ÉTÉ DANSE" 2014 to a superb close.
