History Theatre is thrilled to partner with the charismatic Jen Burleigh-Bentz and Bradley Beahen as they present You've Got A Friend...The Music of Carole King and James Taylor. Who could ask for anything more invigorating and nostalgic as we head into the summer? Take a walk-through memory lane and peruse the extensive catalogs of two of the most influential singer/songwriters of their time with a full acoustic/electric band.
Featured performers: Jen Burleigh-Bentz (Vocals), Bradley Beahen (Vocals and Keys), Beth Valera (Drums & Percussion), Troy Norton (Guitar) and Andy DeLuca (Bass).
In 1971, Carole King won 4 Grammy Awards – record, song, and album of the year as well as best female vocalist with her album "Tapestry", which sold over 25 million copies - holding for 25 years as the top-selling album by a female artist. As a 6-time Grammy winner Taylor's hits span the ages and his laid back, folksy sound has enlightened us for decades. King and Taylor collaborated many times throughout their long careers, and still do today!
Join us June 17th for this One-Night-Only event featuring the songs made popular by these dynamic performers who BOTH won separate Grammy Awards for "You've Got a Friend" in 1971
History Theatre is at 30 East 10th Street, St.Paul.
History Theatre entertains, educates, and engages through creating, developing, and producing new and existing works that explore Minnesota's past and the diverse American experience. Its work provides a unique lens which links our past to the present, explores our common heritage, and illuminates our understanding of what it means to be American. Since its founding in 1978 by Lynn Lohr and Lance Belville, the company has staged more than 100 world premieres, working with nationally recognized playwrights including Jeffrey Hatcher, Eric Simonson, Kevin Kling, Craig Wright, Frank McCourt, Doris Baizley, Melanie Marnich, Kim Hines, John Olive, and Kira Obolensky.
