VIDEO: First Look At Stages Theatre + Escalate Dance Production Of OWL MOON

Stages Theatre Company is excited to bring back our original dance production with Escalate Dance and Theatre Studio, Owl Moon. Based on the Caldecott Medal book by Jane Yolen, this ballet-inspired story is told through movement and dance, and ventures into the magnificent wintery woods where a father and child take a walk hoping to spot an owl and are surprised by what they find behind every tree.

The production will run at Stages Theatre Company March 8 through March 24, 2019. It is approximately 50 minutes in length and is recommended for children of all ages. Visit www.stagestheatre.org for performance dates and times, or call the Box Office at (952) 979-1111, option 4. Tickets are $14 for children ages 2-17; $16 for adults; and $14 for seniors, ages 60+.

Owl Moon was first produced in 2013 and was the very first collaboration between Stages Theatre Company and Escalate Dance & Theatre Studio in Maple Grove, MN. Other collaborations with Escalate Dance include: Twelve Dancing Princesses, The Snow Queen, & The Velveteen Rabbit. "The continuing collaboration, now in its 7th production, allows us to explore how to tell a story with movement in a way that enthralls and engages audience members young and old," said Sandy Boren-Barrett, Stages Theatre Company Artistic Director. "Owl Moon is told on stage with absolutely lush music, and gorgeous dance, and is sure to bring warmth to our audience during this record breaking cold winter."

Stages Theatre Company is offering a sensory-friendly performance of Owl Moon on Saturday, March 16th at 10:00 AM. Sensory-friendly performances are designed for individuals on the autism spectrum and with other sensitives. House lights are on, sound levels are lowered, and crowds are minimized during these judgement-free, shush-free performances.

Stages Theatre Company was founded in 1984 and since then has grown to become one of the largest professional theatres for young audiences in the country. We engage young artists with themes relevant to their lives and involve them in creating magical works featuring young people in meaningful roles. Through on-stage productions, education programs and other outreach opportunities, Stages Theatre Company annually serves more than 150,000 young people and their families. Escalate Dance and Theatre Studio was founded in 2004 by Owner and Director, Ann Marie Omeish. Ann Marie took her love for theatre and dance and fueled what has become one of the most thriving and active dance studios in the Northwest Suburbs. When Ann Marie began the process, she knew her main goal was to create a place where all levels, ages, and abilities were welcomed and appreciated. Escalate encourages every single student to reach their highest potential, hence the name: Escalate. No, it is not a fancy caffeinated beverage (although we do love those!) but a studio that becomes a family by emphasizing individual health, fitness and fun.
