~THE MOST HAPPY FELLA~

Directed by Bob Neu

Our second production will take place in the summer of 2019."The Most Happy Fella" is one of the most beautiful pieces of musical theatre, very much like its setting in the glorious Napa Valley. Filled with sweeping ballads, intense dramatic arias and tuneful, splashy Broadway-style numbers, this ambitious "Broadway opera" has found a home on opera and musical theatre stages alike.

"Cosi fan tutte" is often written off as an opera that is too misogynistic to be effective in our current time. Despite its fantastic score, it's not often produced. We at Skylark Opera think this masterpiece can withstand being viewed through a contemporary lens. And when this happens the traditional roles of the sexes are upended, and this proves to be a very timely work with an empowering message for both men and women."

"The Most Happy Fella" is everyone's favorite score of a musical they've NEVER seen. No one produces this masterpiece! We aim to rectify that with a moving and beautiful production that celebrates this incredible music and doesn't shy away from the provocative plot."

Twelve of Neu's productions have received "Best of the Season" citations from various media including Minneapolis Star Tribune, Cincinnati Post, St. Paul Pioneer Press and Minnesota Public Radio. His production of The Laramie Project received awards for Best Ensemble and Outstanding Theater Event from Broadway World.

Neu teaches masterclasses in audition techniques for the University of Minnesota's opera department, and he is a Resident Director at Lyric Arts Theater, and Artistic Director of Skylark Opera Theatre. He is a graduate of The Juilliard School and is the co-founder of Angels & Demons Entertainment, a production and arts consultancy organization. He is represented by Uzan International Artists.

Skylark Opera Theatre offers new and traditional repertoire performed with a modernized perspective in site-specific and cutting-edge venues.
