Eastern Michigan University Theatre marks a return to in-person performances with William Shakespeares farce The Comedy of Errors. Performances will be October 15-17 and 22-24, 2021, with an accessible performance on October 16. All performances will take place in the Legacy Theatre, located in the Judy Sturgis Hill Building on East Circle Drive, on EMUs Ypsilanti Campus. This production is suggested for audience members ages 14 and up.The Comedy of Errors unfolds in Ephesus, a dangerous place where non-conformity is discouraged and the citizens teeter on the brink of revolt. Set in a moment in a time that might have been...or may still yet to bewe follow Antipholus and Dromio of Syracuse, the city at war with Ephesus, on an adventurous quest to find their long-lost twins. This Shakespearean comedy is tangled with twists & turns, families seeking reunification, and mistaken identities. The Comedy of Errors is directed by John Seibert and is EMU Theatres first venture back to in-person performances. We ask your patience with any new protocols & procedures, including wearing masks, social distancing and Text to Park/Snap to Park payment for parking. Performances of The Comedy of Errors will take place in the Legacy Theatre on October 15, 16, 22, 23 at 7 p.m. and on October 17 & 24 at 2 p.m. The Saturday, October 16 performance will be accessible, designed to offer accessibility services to enhance the experience of patrons with sensory impairments (blind and low vision; deaf and hearing loss). Services available will include ASL interpreters, Closed Captioning, Audio Description, Tactile Resources, and Large Print Programs.Ticket prices for The Comedy of Errors are $18 regular admission, $14 for Seniors (60+), and $12 for students & MAINSTAGE patrons. Tickets are available in person at the Sturgis Hill Ticket Office, by phone at 734.487.2282, and online at www.emutix.com. Sturgis Hill Ticket Office hours are Monday-Friday from Noon-5 p.m. and 90 minutes before showtime. Please note that there is an additional surcharge for tickets purchased by mail, phone or online.Parking on EMUs campus is available for a fee and a credit card is required for payment. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday performance parking is available in the Alexander Guest Lot and Ford Commuter & Staff Lots. The Alexander Lot is $1.75 per hour, patrons will pull a ticket on entry, scan the same ticket at exit and use a credit card to process payment. New this year, the Ford Lots will have Text to Park/Snap to Park options which involve either texting or scanning a QR code. Patrons will pay via one of those options, by credit card, before exiting their vehicle prior to attending the event. Additional parking can be found at meters on campus or the Pease Guest Lot. Those with an EMU parking permit may park accordingly. Visit www.ParkEMU.com for more details about parking on campus.In adherence with Covid protocol, everyone attending an EMU Theatre event will be required to wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth while in the building. We strongly encourage Covid vaccinations and/or testing before attending this or any public event. If you are not feeling well or are exhibiting any Covid symptoms, we ask that you not attend the performance. Refunds and exchanges will be available if you are unable to attend. We will be distancing groups attending by leaving an empty seat between parties.
