Ann Arbor Civic Theatre is proud to present Curtains, with book and additional lyrics by Rupert Holmes, music and additional lyrics by John Kander, and lyrics by Fred Ebb. This production, directed by Jason Smith, runs June 6-9, 2019, at UMs Lydia Mendelssohn Theatre, 911 N. University, Ann Arbor, MI 48109. Performances are Thursday at 7:30 pm, Friday and Saturday at 8pm, with a 2pm matinee on Sunday. Tickets are $28, with tickets at $25 for seniors and $15 for students. On Thursday, tickets remaining when the box office opens at 6:45 will be pay-what-you-can. When the faded actress collapses and dies after curtain call, Boston detective and musical theatre devotee Lieutenant Frank Cioffi comes on the scene. Can he solve the case, save the show, and stay alive? Come see this lively and funny show within a show to find out!This much-loved backstage murder mystery musical is one of director Jason Smiths favorites. He says The first time I heard a song from the show (The Woman's Dead) I knew I had to direct it. The shows quirky nature is what appealed to him, and he continues I love the show-within-a-show aspect.
