"The Tragedy of Julius Caesar" is the first of Shakespeare's major tragedies, written just before Hamlet in 1599. It portrays the pivotal events before and after the assassination of Julius Caesar and the fall of the Roman republic that led to the time of Roman emperors. The play's underlying theme is that times of change make it difficult to discern right from wrong or to predict the consequences of one's actions. This production will be presented in the Roman period.
