Hey, Los Angeles! It’s time for celebration, for pride and wonder. It’s time to say Hooray LA!
The people and places of the City of Angels come to puppet life in Hooray LA! First performed in 1981 for the Los Angeles Bicentennial and now revived by our puppeteers, fabrication workshop, staff, and community collaborators, the production features hundreds of handcrafted marionettes inviting us into the history of LA, from the 1933 earthquake to the development of the LA freeways to the mountains of Griffith Park where one lone mountain lion looks for love… And so much more!
Bob Baker Marionette Theater couldn’t pick a more accurate title for their current offering than Hooray LA. The show is a celebration of LA’s culture, history, people, landmarks, and traditions that— without shying away from the dark stuff— manages to delight Angelenos across a spectrum of generations.
The Ford will present a celebration and discovery inspired by LA’s culturally rich neighborhoods and communities. Each unique family event features artmaking, live performance, dancing, or listening with artists. These are daytime events, best for ages 3-11.
The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association announced details today of The Ford’s 2022 season, featuring 19 weeks of performances between June 12 and October 23.
