Interim Sound Engineer - Gulfshore Playhouse

Gulfshore Playhouse offers a diverse season of straight plays and small musicals ranging from

venerated classics and Broadway hits to contemporary works and world premieres. The Playhouse is passionately committed to producing high-quality, professional theatre which exceeds the expectations of the cultured residents and visitors of Naples, FL, many of whom are regular theatre patrons in New York, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.



Gulfshore Playhouse has performed for many years in an intimate 200-seat venue at the Norris

Center, a municipal building run by the City of Naples. The Playhouse is in the final phases of a

$66M capital campaign and has broken ground on the Baker Theatre and Education Center, a

state-of-the-art facility, featuring a 350-seat mainstage with a Broadway-sized stage, a 125-seat

flexible space, rehearsal studios, classrooms, and rental space. This is an extraordinarily

exciting time for the Playhouse, which is experiencing unprecedented growth.



Representative Duties:

This position will act as sound engineer for 3 productions (The Refugees, Into the Breeches, She Loves Me), support any other audio needs, live mix A1 for She Loves Me.



Reporting to the Director of Production, the Sound Engineer will be responsible for:



Oversee all sound elements, and sound design as envisioned by the directors,

and sound designer.

Coordinate all purchases, rentals, and borrows necessary for the realization of

sound designs;

Analyzing the feasibility of all sound designs with regard budget, physical and

electrical limitations at the venue;

Work with venue staff to provide appropriate general sound access for events in

shared space;

Wire all permanent and rental speakers, and work with Technical Director and

Properties Master to fully realize all practical elements;

Oversee work of Sound Technician in assisting with operations.

Oversee Sound Technician in the operation of the sound board/lighting board for

performances

Live mix sound for performances;

Maintain sound inventory, instrument quality, and storage organization;

Provide on-call coverage for any last minute or emergency needs in the sound

department;

Provide technical support for all special events or fundraisers;

Attend all staff meetings and other meetings as required;

In association with Director of Production, enforce shop and theatre policies and

uphold standard of safety regulations;

Provide services in a manner in accordance with the guidelines contained within

Employer’s employee manual and style guide

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and a willingness to ensure high-quality work. The Playhouse values hard work, kindness, generosity, passion, and grace-under-pressure. The Sound Engineer will be expected to work extended hours when necessary to meet goals. Weekend and evening hours are required including some show performances.



Qualifications:



The ideal candidate would possess:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to prioritize and self-start tasks.

High proficiency in Qlab and Vectorworks

Experience with wireless microphones

Experience with Midas M32 control console

Ability to lift 75lbs

Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and at heights of up to 25ft

A level headed and empathetic approach to personnel management

Familiarity with lighting and video equipment, preferred
