Community Liason - Gulfshore Playhouse

Gulfshore Playhouse, one of the nation’s finest regional theatres, located in Naples, FL, is seeking a dynamic, creative, and detail-oriented Community Liaison. Gulfshore Playhouse offers a diverse season of straight plays and small musicals ranging from venerated classics and Broadway hits to contemporary works and world premieres. The Playhouse is passionately committed to producing high-quality, professional theatre that exceeds the expectations of the cultured residents and visitors of Naples, FL, many of whom are regular theatre patrons in New York, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.



Gulfshore Playhouse has performed for many years in an intimate 200-seat venue at the Norris Center, a municipal building run by the City of Naples. The Playhouse is in the final phases of a $66M capital campaign and will soon be breaking ground on the Baker Theatre and Education Center, a state-of-the-art facility, featuring a 368-seat mainstage with a Broadway-sized stage, a 125-seat flexible space, rehearsal studios, classrooms, and rental space. This is an extraordinarily exciting time for the Playhouse, which is experiencing unprecedented growth, and the Community Liaison will have the opportunity to participate in everything from production to special events to coordinating daily business affairs.



Status: Full-time, year-round position



Start Date: August 2023



Representative Duties:



The Community Liaison will report directly to the Gulfshore Playhouse Director of Education and will be the primary point of contact between Gulfshore Playhouse and local community organizations with the goal of making art accessible for those who do not have access to it through our educational programs.



Responsibilities:



Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with community organizations that need access to theatre arts and theatre arts education.

Work closely with the full-time Education staff to plan and lead activities for summer production programs, classes, and workshops built to reinforce acting and technical theatre fundamentals

Along with the Education department, develop and implement workshops, seminars and forums which address timely topics. Provide education related to Gulfshore Playhouse programs to students, parents, and community partners.

Work to ensure that the greater Naples community is aware of, feel part of, and feel welcomed into Gulfshore Playhouse.

Skills and Qualifications:



3-5 years related experience preferred

Strong ability to work effectively with community members, teachers, students, volunteers, and fellow staff

Communicate effectively, verbally and written, in front of community partners, Board members, students, and patrons

Resourceful; creative problem solver

Knowledge of theatre pedagogy and technical theatre

Ability to maintain a positive and encouraging attitude

Teaching, youth work and/or training experience

Ability to show patience and adaptability when working with students

Must pass a background check for working with children

Conduct oneself in the best interest of students, staff, community leaders, and volunteers in accordance with the values and mission of Gulfshore Playhouse

Fluency in Spanish is a highly preferred

Salary:



$42,000 – $45,000 per year
