He is talented, hardworking, and determined to succeed. Charismatic and charming; must be a very strong actor (comfortable with narrative text) and have a gritty side as well as a polished veneer. Strong tenor with sweet and strong falsetto - able to sing in the style of Frankie Valli and is comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies.

SEEKING:

[LEADING PLAYER] any ethnicity/race, 20s-30s, any gender identity. Masterfully charming and lovingly manipulative, the Leading Player is a chameleon of sorts. Guides Pippin through the story and tries to intervene at the end. Always looking to put on a great show for the audience. Excellent dancer and singer, highly charismatic.

[PIPPIN] any ethnicity/race, 20s-30s, male. Our story's young and confused protagonist. Longing to find a purpose and a place to belong. Naive, innocent, and hungry for joy and connection. Eventually finds love, meaning, and happiness with Catherine and Theo. (G2-Ab4) Strong mover/dancer.

[BERTHE] CAST any ethnicity/race, 60s, female. Pippin's saucy grandmother. A brassy broad full of wisdom, grace, and sass. She tries to help Pippin and encourages him to live his life to the fullest. (E3- C5)

[LEWIS] any ethnicity/race, 20s-30s, male. Charlemagne and Fastrada’s son. Strong and not bright. Pippin’s half-brother and, after Pippin, heir to the throne. Addicted to the physical, Lewis loves weightlifting, Lewis loves wrestling, but most of all, Lewis loves Lewis. A strong dancer.

[CHARLES] CAST any ethnicity/race, 50s+, male. Pippin's demanding father. As King of the Holy Roman Empire, Charlemagne is more comfortable wielding a sword than breaking bread. He wears his years with great pride. (G2-E4).

[FASTRADA] any ethnicity/race, 30s-40s, female. Pippin's conniving stepmother. A seductress, who is no stranger to deceit and betrayal, she is both sensual and smart. Skilled at using her sexual appeal to benefit her and her son. (A3-F5). A strong Dancer.

[CATHERINE] any ethnicity/race, 20s-30s, female. A widow and mother. She is a committed and hopeless romantic, who possesses graceful elegance and a charming wit. Encounters Pippin at his lowest point and eventually falls in love with him. (F#3-Db5) Strong mover/dancer

[MIRA (short for Elmira)] Bi-racial, white and Asian (Korean)-American woman, late 20s, with a strong Classical music background. A Brooklyn Hipster originally from North Carolina, Mira is daughter to a Korean father and a southern, white mother. While traveling near Asheville with her musicologist boyfriend, after months of “Covid Lockdown”, she meets her estranged maternal grandfather — a “footnote-famous” banjo-player —after almost twenty years without contact. Plays the Violin at a high level of proficiency. Other instruments that this character plays in the show are Appalachian Dulcimer and the Er-hu (rudimentary skills are required, and can be learned in rehearsal)

He plays banjo, guitar, dulcimer and harmonica.
