Dancers may be asked to stay after for an acting/singing callback, same location. Callbacks scheduled to end no later than 1:00p.

CONTRACT

LOA Minimum - $492/wk

SEEKING

Principal and ensemble dancers, ages 17 and above, for remaining roles. Familiarity with the Jerome Robbins choreography is a plus, but not a requirement. Local hires preferred.

PREPARATION

Wear clothes that are comfortable for dance. Changing area available at facility. Women wear heels; men wear sneakers. Men are encouraged to bring knee pads, if owned. Bring a headshot and resume. Audition form available in advance (by emailing auditions@adplayers.org) or day-of at the audition.

BREAKDOWN

We are only casting for the following roles. All other roles are either cast or being auditioned separately. Due to the importance race plays to the plot, we are seeking to cast ethnically appropriate for roles.


Anita (Female, 25-30, Vocal Part: Mezzo F3-D5) Feisty and assertive. She dispenses older sister advice to Maria and tries to shield her from the dangers of the gangs. Bernardo's girlfriend and Maria's friend. Puerto Rican. Strong dancer.

Action (Male, 20-25, Vocal Part: Baritone G2-G4) Jet. Most aggressive member of the gang, a cat-like ball of fury. Strong dancer.

Diesel (Male, 20-25, Vocal Part: Baritone G2-G4) Jet. Lieutenant to Riff. Big, slow, steady. Strong dancer.

A-Rab (Male, 19-22, Vocal Part: Baritone Db3-G4) Jet. Small of stature, enjoys everything, takes nothing seriously, unaware, can be explosive. Strong dancer.

Indio (Male, 22-26, Vocal Part: Baritone) Shark. Puerto Rican. Typically proud and resentful of discrimination. Strong dancer.

Luis (Male, 22-26, Vocal Part: Baritone) Shark. Puerto Rican. Extremely prideful of his heritage. Strong dancer.

Rosalia (Female, 19-25, Vocal Part: Mezzo) Young Puerto Rican girl. More demure, not too bright. Homesick for Puerto Rico. Strong dancer.

Shark Girl (Female, 19-25, Vocal Part: Mezzo) Young Puerto Rican girl. Strong dancer.
