SEEKING
Performers for all roles (see breakdown). Ages 17 and above. Performers of all ethnic and racial backgrounds are encouraged to attend.
Familiarity with the Jerome Robbins choreography is a plus, but not a requirement.
Local hires preferred.
PREPARATION
All should bring a headshot and resume. Arrive dressed and ready to dance by 9:00 a.m. Please wear shoes and clothing appropriate for dancing. Some dancers may be asked to return in the afternoon to sing and/or read. Please have prepared 16-32 bars if asked to sing. Bring sheet music in the proper key and with any cuts clearly marked. Accompanist is provided but will not transpose. Please do not sing acappella.

BREAKDOWN
Riff - Male, 25-30, Vocal Part: Tenor Bb2-G4
A spritely, quick-tempered leader. He seeks to eliminate the Sharks and establish his own gang's dominance. Tony's best friend, he is eventually murdered by Bernardo. Strong dancer.
Anita - Female, 25-30, Vocal Part: Mezzo F3-D5
Feisty and assertive. She dispenses older sister advice to Maria and tries to shield her from the dangers of the gangs. Bernardo's girlfriend and Maria's friend. Puerto Rican. Strong dancer.
Bernardo - Male, 25-35, Vocal Part: Baritone Bb2-Eb4
A proud, strong, handsome Puerto Rican man. Bernardo seeks to carve out territory as a sense of identity for he and his friends. Maria's brother and Anita's boyfriend. Leader of the Sharks. Strong dancer.
Chino - Male, 20-25, Vocal Part: Baritone Bb2-Eb4
An angry and, at times, naive Shark who turns murderous and vengeful. Suitor to Maria and friend of Bernardo's. Strong dancer.
Action - Male, 20-25, Vocal Part: Baritone G2-G4
Most aggressive member of the Jets, a cat-like ball of fury. Strong dancer.
Anybodys - Female, 15-25, Vocal Part: Speaking
A spunky tomboy who is desperate to become a member of the Jets. The other Jets mock her for her ambitions, but generally appreciate her company. Full of energy and heart. Strong dancer.
Diesel - Male, 25-30, Vocal Part: Baritone G2-G4
Jet. Lieutenant to Riff. Big, slow, steady. Strong dancer.
Baby John - Male, 17-22, Vocal Part: Baritone Bb2-G4
Youngest member of the Jets. Awed at everything, even being a Jet. Tries to act like a big man, but is vulnerable. Strong dancer.
A-Rab - Male, 19-22, Vocal Part: Baritone Db3-G4
Jet. Small of stature, enjoys everything, takes nothing seriously, unaware, can be explosive. Strong dancer.
Snowboy - Male, 19-22, Vocal Part: Baritone F3-G4
Jet. Bespectacled, self-styled expert. Strong dancer.
Velma - Female, 20-25, Vocal Part: Speaking
Riff's girlfriend. Young, slithery, great dancer lost in a world of jive.
Graziella - Female, 20-25, Vocal Part: Speaking
Girlfriend of Diesel. Great dancer and impressed with herself.
Pepe - Male, 20-25, Vocal Part: Baritone G2-G4
Shark. Lieutenant to Bernardo. Headstrong. Strong dancer.
Indio - Male, 22-26, Vocal Part: Baritone
Shark. Typically proud and resentful of discrimination. Strong dancer.
Luis - Male, 22-26, Vocal Part: Baritone
Shark. Extremely prideful of himself and his heritage. Strong dancer.
Juano - Male, 22-26, Vocal Part: Baritone
Shark. Also very prideful and defensive against discrimination. Strong dancer.
Toro - Male, 22-26, Vocal Part: Baritone
Strong dancer.
Consuelo - Female, 20-25, Vocal Part: Mezzo
Tough, young Puerto Rican girl. Flirty and fun. Strong dancer.
Rosalia - Female, 19-25, Vocal Part: Mezzo
Young Puerto Rican girl. More demure, not too bright. Homesick for Puerto Rico. Strong dancer.
