SEEKING

Equity actors for various roles.

One Equity principal contract available for 3 open roles. One understudy contract. Atlanta-based actors strongly encouraged to audition.

PREPARATION

Sides will be provided. If you have not been seen at Horizon before, please also prepare two contrasting contemporary monologues. Please bring a photo and resume, attached.

Heartfelt Southern humor scattered, smothered and covered in a spicy holiday sauce. The wildly popular Waffle Palace gang is back in this holiday edition full of charm, laughter and Christmas cheer.

BREAKDOWN

Seeking actors for:

CONNIE: African-American female, 50s-60s, a long-time waitress at the Waffle Palace. Connie sings in a few group songs.

DEANDRE, DAVE - African-American male, 20s or early 30s. Deandre: an enthusiastic, artistic millennial with an interest in digital design and nephew of Connie who takes a job as the Waffle Palace grill cook. Dave: homeless man and street artist. This role has a solo song and sings in a few group songs.

ALEX, BLAIR - Caucasian female, late 20s or early 30s. Alex: a smart, likeable tech/web creative/Vlogger who begins working from the WP and becomes a regular and part of the WP Family; and Blair: the former girlfriend of owner John from the 1980s. Alex sings in a few group songs.

JOHN PICKETT, JR. UNDERSTUDY: Caucasian male, 50s or 60s. The long-time owner of the Waffle Palace. He loves the WP and is resisting changes that his new partner, Connie, is seeking to keep up with the times. He is a strong presence at the WP and his whole life has revolved around this place. John sings in a few group songs.

He is a strong presence at the WP and his whole life has revolved around this place. John sings in a few group songs. Role is cast with the actor who originated the role.

KRAMPUS: Male, any race, 30s to 60s. A contemporary version of the Christmas monster of ancient lore. He can transform himself to be seen as he likes by humans, so he plays many different roles in his attempts to destroy the Christmas spirit of the Waffle Palace. Comic timing and ability to play multiple characters required. Role is cast with actor who originated the role.

ESPERANZA, MAVIS – Hispanic female, 20s-40s. Esperanza: a 20s-40s sweet waitress originally from Chile who won the lottery and married one of the regular customers in the WP, and Mavis: a long-time, Southern waitress at the WP. Role is cast with actor who originated the role.

HUGO, BUBBA, BUSINESSMAN, CAJUN JIM – Caucasian male, 40s-60s. Hugo: a regular customer and former philosophy professor and garbage man now employed as a UPS truck driver who married Esperanza; Bubba: a very Southern working class regular at the WP and husband to Tooty; a business executive: who is a new customer at the WP; and Cajun Jim: a mall Santa from Louisianna. Role is cast with actor who originated the role.

TOOTY, BUSINESSWOMAN, POLICEWOMAN – Caucasian female, 40s-50s – Tooty: a very Southern working class regular at the WP and wife to Bubba; a business executive: who is a new customer at the WP; a policewoman: who has been a regular at the WP. Role is cast with actor who originated the role.
