Equity singing actors, men and women, for the 2013-14 season plays.

Preparation
Singer/Actors may choose one or more scenes from the play and/or choose one or more readings from other sources and 16 bars of music. Sides will be available at the auditions. A reader will be provided. Scripts are available at the Stage Source office, 88 Tremont Street, Suite 714 in Boston, MA.

EPA for the season plays held on 6/4, 10am to 6pm. See separate notice

Auditions will be by appointment in five minute time slots. AEA members without appointments will be seen as time permits.

Breakdown

Casting will be non-traditional. Though set in Czechoslovakia in a Jewish community, actors of color and from all ethnicities are invited to audition for any role. Actors with disabilities are encouraged to audition; we are happy to discuss the concept and the demands of each role with interested actors.

BUT THE GIRAFFE

MOTHER– 30’s – 50’s, busy, sings opera to herself.
FATHER – 30’s – 50’s, concerned, incredulous.
GRANDMOTHER – 50’s – 70’s, adept at metaphor and mitzvah.
GRANDFATHER – 50’s-70’s, with a gruffness that masks a huge heart.
UNCLE – 20’s – 30’s, a young conductor, loves music more than he can express.
GIRL – 8-11, no one is telling her anything so she tries to figure out everything, her mind is always working and she has big feelings.
SOLDIER – 14-23, a toy come to life, magical and commanding.
