SEEKING

Seeking experienced Equity Actors, Singers, and Dancers for Principal and Chorus tracks in our 2024 season.

Note: Our 2024 season will require dancers with advanced tap skills.

To be considered, Actors must attend this audition and be available for callbacks.

All ethnicities, gender identities, and backgrounds are encouraged to attend.

All must be fully vaccinated and boosted against Covid-19.

PREPARATION

PREPARE a brief vocal selection from a song of your choice. Bring sheet music in the appropriate key - an accompanist will be provided. You may sing from a show in our season if you would like. A cappella is not encouraged. Please bring your Equity card and a current headshot and resume, stapled together. Some performers may be asked to stay and dance. Please bring appropriate dancewear and shoes.

CASSIE FERGUSON | Female, 30 - 35 - A gifted star, stand-out dancer with a reputation for featured roles in two Broadway shows. Complicated romantic history with Zach. A triple threat. Sings “The Music and the Mirror.”

DIANA MORALES | Female, Hispanic/Latinx/Latine, 20 - 30 - Determined and athletic dancer from the Bronx. Funny, charming, and vulnerable. Sings “Nothing” and carries the company into “What I Did for Love.”

JUDY TURNER | Female, 25 – 30 - Funny, gawky, nervous. Warm and hopeful. Awkward except when she’s dancing.

VAL CLARK | Female, Late 20s - Sassy, funny. Excellent dancer who underwent plastic surgery due to industry pressure. A brazen, direct, attention-seeker from Vermont. Sings “Dance 10, Looks 3.”

BEBE BENZENHEIMER | Female, Mid 20s - Covers her irrational insecurity through attempted humor. Quiet and vulnerable. Sings middle harmony in “At the Ballet.”

CONNIE WONG | Female, Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander, 25 – 35 - Experienced dancer, married. A “mother hen” with a great sense of humor. Born in Chinatown, New York. Plays 4’10”.

KRISTINE URICH | Female, 18 - 25 - Al’s wife who can’t sing, but dances outrageously well. She is awkward, anxious, and hilarious. She “speaks” the song “Sing,” but does sing in the ensemble numbers.

MAGGIE WINSLOW | Female, 20s - A dreamer and the “little sister” of the group. Fairly experienced dancer from a troubled home in California. Seeking a warm voice with a mix belt up to E natural for the climax of “At the Ballet.”

SHEILA BRYANT | Female, 30s - Oldest dancer on the line. Confident, brassy, humorous, and sophisticated. Sings the low harmony in “At the Ballet.”

ZACH | Male, 30s – early 40s - Charismatic, controlling, manipulative, calculated but brilliant Broadway director/choreographer. He seems to be in complete control, even when facing his personal relationship with Cassie. Traditionally non-singing role but should have solid movement/dance ability.

LARRY | Male, 20s – early 30s - Zach’s long-time assistant. Bright, helpful, confident, and a superb dancer.

BOBBY MILLS | Male, 20s - Zestful, witty, and sharp tongued. Covers everything with a joke. Had an unusual upbringing in upstate New York.

MARK ANTHONY | Male, 18 – early 20s - Optimistic, naïve, charming, and a great dancer.

MIKE COSTA | Male, 20s – early 30s - Determined, flirtatious, cocky, sure of himself, but likable. He’s worked with Zach before. From New Jersey. A strong tapper or has strong gymnastic skills.

RICHIE WALTERS | Male, Black, 20s – early 30s - From Missouri. Enthusiastic, cool, and very funny. Likeable and laid back. Strong dancer, dynamic falsetto.

AL DELUCA | Male, 20s – early 30s - From the Bronx. Kristine’s husband. From a working-class background. Strong singer.

PAUL SAN MARCO | Male, Hispanic/Latinx/Latine, Mid – late 20s - Introverted and slightly insecure but loves to perform. From Spanish Harlem. Friends with Diana. Delivers a raw and vulnerable monologue about coming out to his parents.

DON KERR | Male, 20’s – early 30s - Married and into cars, money, and women. Very sure of himself. Cocky because he has worked with Zach before. From Kansas City.

GREGORY GARDENER | Male, 20s – early 30s - A sassy, droll smart-aleck. Has worked with Zach before. Very East Side New York.

ENSEMBLE | Any gender, 20s – early 30s - To portray “cut” dancers and other various Chorus parts, offstage singers, and to understudy Principals.

MICHAEL DORSEY / DOROTHY MICHAELS | Male, 30 – 40 - Michael is an actor’s actor. A focused perfectionist, outspoken, stubborn, abrasive and frustrated at where his career hasn’t taken him. Highly intelligent and desperate to do the one thing he loves more than life itself… act. Dorothy Michaels is strong-willed, understanding, and humorous. Slightly coy, slightly vain, and completely lovable. Vocal range: Top – D5, Bottom – A2

JULIE NICHOLS | Female, 30 – 40 - An actor at a crossroad in her life. Focused, self-aware and self assured. She masks her pain and longs to connect. Vocal range: Top - G5, Bottom - E3

SANDY LESTER | Female, 30 – 40 - Michael's ex-girlfriend, now a friend. She’s neurotic, pessimistic, self-deprecating, childish, and easily flummoxed. She makes her anxieties known incredibly loudly and just wants to be happy. Vocal range: Top – E5, Bottom – G#3

MAX VAN HORN | Male, 25 – 35 - A self-obsessed actor with a limited wit. A firm believer in his own hype who can’t imagine anyone not being attracted to him. Vocal range: Top – G4

JEFF SLATER | Male, 30 – 45 - Michael's roommate. A sardonic realist who lacks the ambition and drive to live up to his potential. The voice of reason swirls just outside the eye of Michael's chaos. Jeff sees the humor of situations and has no reluctance to point out people’s flaws – even his own. Vocal range: Top – D5, Bottom – B2

RITA MARSHALL | Female, 50 – 65 - A levelheaded producer. Experienced and the voice of sanity and reason in a swirling pool of crazy. She is always a beat ahead of everyone and is very New York. Vocal range: Top – B4, Bottom - F3

STAN FIELDS | Male - Michael’s overworked agent. Always to the point, he plays the game, but hates it.

RON CARLISLE | Male, 40 – 55 - An incredibly successful director. He demands respect and is often disrespectful in return. Vocal range: Top – B4, Bottom – F#2

STUART | Male - The composer of Juliet's Curse. Ensemble. Vocal range: Top – G4, Bottom – Eb3 SUZIE | Female - The lyricist of Juliet's Curse. Ensemble. Vocal range: Top – Bb4, Bottom – Bb3

MOTHER ABBESS | Female, mid 40s – 50 - Wise, kind, and strong. Powerful Mezzo (B to A-flat)

ELSA SCHRADER | Female, mid 30s – early 40s - Wealthy, sophisticated, charming. Legit-Mezzo range (A to E below high C)

MAX DETWEILLER | Male, 40s – 50s - Witty and rascally impresario. Strong character with a good sense of comedy, Baritone

LIESL VON TRAPP | Female, 18+ to play 16 - Girl on the verge of womanhood. Chest mix with a head voice (low G to F#); Dance/Moves well.

ROLF GRUBER | Male, 18+ to play 17 - Epitome of clean cut, athletic German youth. Lyric Baritone moves well.

FRANZ | Male, mid 30s to 50s - Distant and efficient butler.

FRAU SCHMIDT | Female, mid 30s to 50s - Efficient yet caring housekeeper, Legit voice.

HERR ZELLER | Male, late 20s – 40s - A staunch Nazi sympathizer and eventually a leader in the Nazi regime

DOROTHY BROCK | Female, 40 - 50 - A genuine Broadway star; very elegant; moves well and possesses a strong sense of comic timing; Belt/Alto to low Eb.

BILLY LAWLOR | Male, 20 - 30s - Exceptional tap dancer with star power and soaring Tenor vocal quality. Able to play the juvenile believably.

MAGGIE JONES | Female, 40 - 50s - Half of the writing duo; sings and moves well; able to play comedy with great warmth and charm; character Alto/Belt.

BERT BARRY | Male, 40s - 50s - Half of the writing duo; sings and moves well; able to play comedy with vaudeville timing; character Baritone.

ABNER DILLION | Male, 40s - 60s - Character role; the stars sugar daddy from Oklahoma; ability to sing helpful but not necessary. Bass/Baritone.

ANYTIME ANNIE | Female, 20s - 30s - One of the girls in the chorus; a first rate tap dancer and natural comedienne; Big belt with Alto.

PAT DENNING | Male, 40 - 50 - A handsome vaudeville performer down on his luck; Dorothy Brock's true love; Baritone.

ANDY LEE | Male, 20s - 40s - Dance director of the show; a first rate tap dancer; Bari-tenor.
