Equity actors for roles in Ten Thousand Things 2023-24 Season (see breakdown).

13 or more Equity Actors and/or

Swing/Understudies for 2023-2024 Season for three live productions: multi-racial and gender imaginative casting. Most actors will play multiple roles.

All abilities, ethnicities, cultural, and gender identities are welcome to audition with encouragement to Black, Indigenous, AAPI, People of Color and Trans Artists. TTT employs diverse, inclusive, and gender imaginative casting for all roles as culturally appropriate to the telling of the story. PREPARATION

Please prepare a classic or heightened language monologue, 2 minute maximum. Optional: A short song of your choice, a cappella. There will not be an accompanist on site. We wish to hear singing a cappella to reflect the minimal instrumentation that is used under performance conditions. Please bring a headshot and resume with you to auditions. Virtual auditions: We will be accepting virtual audition pieces. The deadline for virtual auditions is June 10th at 5:00pm. They can be submitted to Ryan Volna-Rich, Ten Thousand Things Production Manager at: auditions@tenthousandthings.org . If sending in a tape, please keep total audition submission to 4 minutes or less and include a copy of your headshot and resume.

BREAKDOWN

An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition.

Twelfth Night:

Orsino: Duke of Illyria and its ruler.

Viola/Cesario: Twin sister of Sebastian, after being shipwrecked she disguises herself as a boy. Lady Olivia: Countess, falls in love with Viola disguised as a boy.

Sebastian: Twin brother of Viola. Marries Olivia.

Antonio: Sea captain who aids and protects Sebastian

Sir Toby Belch: Lady Olivia’s uncle, given to constant drinking bouts

Sir Andrew Aguecheek: knight who courts lady Olivia

(Already Cast) Malvolio: Lady Olivia’s steward, dreams of marrying Lady olivia

Maria: Lady Olivia’s waiting woman

Feste: A clown, or “jester,” in the employ of Lady Olivia

Fabian: Servant of some importance in Lady Olivia’s house.

Valentine and Curio: Two gentlemen who attend Duke Orsino.

The Hatmaker’s Wife:

(Already Cast) Hetchman: Hatmaker. He wears a hat. Curmudgeonly.

(Already Cast) Hetchman’s Wife: Wife of Hetchman. Nondescript. Does she have a name? Who knows.

Meckel: Hetchman’s neighbor and only friend.

(Already Cast) Voice: A young woman

(Already Cast) Gabe: Voice’s boyfriend. Easygoing in a way Voice has never been. (Already Cast) Wall: A wall, probably female, that speaks with a quasi-Eastern European accent.

The Spitfire Grill:

(Already Cast) Percy Talbott: Percy is pretty, if a bit rough-edged. Her face declares the strength of her youth and a sadness beyond her years. She carries a terrible secret.

Hannah Ferguson: About 70, owner of the Spitfire Grill.

Shelby Thorpe: mid-30’s. Plain, shy, almost ethereal. Wife of Caleb Thorpe.

Caleb Thorpe: Early 40’s, out-of-work foreman. Clinging to the past.

Sheriff Joe Sutter: Mid to late 20’s, small-town policeman.

Effy Crayneck: 50’s, postmistress and the town busybody.

The Visitor: Mid-40’s and a mysterious figure who never speaks.
