SEEKING

Equity actors for roles in Trinity Repertory Company's 2022-23 Season (see breakdown).

Local actors are encouraged to attend.



PREPARATION

Please prepare a set of contrasting monologues of your choice with a total length of five minutes or less. Prior to starting, please state your name and what you are going to perform. Upon arrival, actors will be asked to complete a quick information/skill sheet which will be submitted to the audition panel along with your picture (recommended) and resume (required) stapled together.

Meter and garage parking is located around downtown Providence (try: Greene, Washington, Empire, and Fountain Street). Please give yourself ample time to park, walk and check-in. Once you’ve arrived at our main lobby, you can sign-in to your audition, get your temperature checked and complete a quick Covid sign-in form. You will then be asked to sit in the Dowling Lobby until your name is called to audition inside the Dowling theater.

About: Trinity Rep’s season will begin with Tony and Olivier Award-winning duology The Inheritance by Matthew López. Presented in two parts, The Inheritance details the relationships between three generations of gay men in New York City – and what each generation passes down to the next. This production will be directed by resident company member Joe Wilson, Jr., who also directed 2021’s A Christmas Carol and co-directed 2018’s black odyssey.

About: Trinity Rep will continue with its 46th annual production of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Reimagined anew each season, this year’s show will be directed by Aileen Wen McGroddy, a recent graduate of the Brown/Trinity Rep MFA Program in Directing.

QUEEN MARGARET

About: Queen Margaret, adapted by Whitney White, is a new work slated for world premiere in winter 2023. The play is currently in development and character information is unavailable at this time. Queen Margaret is a thrilling new recutting of William Shakespeare’s plays Henry VI and Richard III by Whitney White, told from the perspective of the titular queen. This production will be directed by company member Jude Sandy, who previously helmed productions of August Wilson’s Gem of the Ocean and Radio Golf, and co-directed black odyssey.

THE INFERIOR SEX

About: The Inferior Sex by Jaqueline E. Lawton is a new work slated for world premiere in spring 2023. The play is currently in development, the character names/descriptions are subject to change and casting for all roles is still being determined. The Inferior Sex paints a poignant and hilarious behind-the-scenes look at a women’s magazine in 1972 at the height of the second-wave feminist movement. Resident company member Tatyana-Marie Carlo will direct, having also directed 2022’s Sueño and 2019’s Fade.

About: Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street by Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler concerns the darkly comic pursuit of vengeance by the title character and the show will mark the first time in more than two decades that Trinity Rep will produce a Stephen Sondheim-composed musical. This production will be directed by Curt Columbus, who spearheaded many past productions including Tiny Beautiful Things, Macbeth, Ragtime, and Beowulf: A Thousand Years of Baggage.

Requirement for proof of vaccination/negative test.

Everyone entering the audition venue (i.e., venue employees, Equity members, non-members, casting personnel, creatives, producers, musicians, COVID Safety Managers, etc.) will be required to undergo a symptom check and provide one of the following prior to entry into the venue:

- Proof of full vaccination. “Fully vaccinated,” as defined by the CDC, is more than 14 calendar days following receipt of a final dose of an FDA or World Health Organization authorized or approved vaccine.

Two-ply cloth face masks, surgical masks, singer’s masks and respirators (N95, KN95 or KF94) will be allowed for face coverings. Single-ply face masks, gaiters and bandanas are not acceptable face coverings. Everyone in the holding room and audition room will always wear a face covering as described above, except for the actor when they are actively auditioning. The time spent unmasked should be as minimal as possible. Face coverings must be worn correctly (covering the nose and mouth). If the risk level for Providence is trending upwards and may rise to High (Red) we will contact members with appointments at least 24 hours before the first audition appointment time to let them know there is a chance that the auditions Revised March 14, 2022 may need to be postponed or cancelled. All members with appointments will be notified if the auditions must be postponed or cancelled.

We encourage members to prepare for their audition at home, to the extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and dressing rooms. Additional information required in notice:

Holding/Audition room information:

The audition room is 4,077 square feet and can accommodate no more than 15 individuals at a time.

The holding room is 774 square feet and can accommodate no more than 21 individuals at a time.
