BREAKDOWN

THISTLES

SYNOPSIS: Early in the Covid-19 pandemic, Rebecca escapes New York City for her family's old, uninhabited farmhouse in rural, homogeneous Southern Pennsylvania. Having learned from social media that Rebecca is an out lesbian, Laney, a neighbor, confides in Rebecca that she is attracted to women as Rebecca shares her desire to sell the family farm. Conflict ensues when Rebecca and her uncle Peter clash over plans for the property. Tragedy lurks as emotions are buried under ancestral floorboards.

SEEKING:

Rebecca Frank (she/her) 45, from NYC. Self-assured and in need of a country escape. Determined to do what is right, or what she believes is right. Lesbian.

Laney Harnbry (she/her) 50, from Rocky Glen, PA. Appears shy and withdrawn. Is also deeply loyal and forthcoming to those she cares about and trusts. Lives next door to Rebecca's family farmhouse. Closeted lesbian.

Alan Crier (CAST) (he/him) 55, from Rocky Glen, PA. A jack of all trades. Friendly, unassuming, and simple-minded. Rents a garage from Rebecca's family. Seems to be around more than he should.

Peter Crow (he/him) 70s, from Rocky Glen, PA. Rebecca's uncle. The family historian and an antiques dealer. Appears to be living more for the past than the present. A procrastinator with a big heart and an often child-like energy.

Lucinda (she/her) 60s-early 70s, from Rocky Glen, PA. Rebecca's aunt and Peter's sister. The matriarch of the family. She loves to talk but does not listen and has an intense energy which can border on hyper.
