Equity encourages members to prepare for their audition prior to arriving at the audition venue, to the extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and dressing rooms.

Esther Shannon - 30s-40s Esther is a stenographer in a top secret military base for returning Vietnam POW’s. Esther knows how to get ahead in this ‘man’s world’. A returning POW’s story fundamentally alters the course of her life. She is smart, sensitive, and brave. Any ethnicity.

DADDY LONG LEGS

Jerusha Abbott - Late teens-mid 20s - G3 to B5 (alto), pop musical theater voice with belting and good vocal technique. A bright, witty, and independent young woman who has spent her life at the John Grier Home. She is the oldest orphan in the home and the beneficiary of a mysterious benefactor who has agreed to send her to college. Jerusha is a talented writer and dreams of becoming a novelist. She is also a bit of a rebel and is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in. Any ethnicity.

Jervis Pendleton - 20s-30s - G3 to G#4 (tenor), pop musical theater voice with belting and good vocal technique. A handsome, well-to-do, and educated young man. He is the uncle of one of Jerusha's roommates and introduces her to a world of literature, travel, and adventure. Jervis is a romantic at heart and is drawn to Jerusha's intelligence and wit. He is also a bit of a dreamer and is not afraid to take risks. Any ethnicity.

BOEING-BOEING

Bernard - 30s-40s - An American playboy living in Paris, Bernard is charming, handsome, and happily engaged to three different women, none of whom know about the others. Detail oriented, by over-confident to a fault. Any ethnicity.

Robert - 30s-40s - An old friend of Bernard's from Wisconsin. He is a shy, sweet, but nervous man, who is also a loyal friend. Robert helps Bernard to keep his three relationships a secret, sending his anxiety into a tailspin. Any ethnicity.

Berthe - 30s-40s Bernard's French housekeeper. She is a sharp-tongued and observant woman who is not fooled by Bernard's deception. Always exhausted, and at the point of exasperation with Bernard’s hi jinx. Any ethnicity.

Gretchen - 20s-30s - Passionate and tempestuous, Gretchen is Bernard’s German fiancé. She is a commanding presence. She works for Lufthansa. Any ethnicity.

Gabriella - 20s-30s - Fiery and smart, Gabriella is Bernard’s Italian fiancé. She flies with Alitalia. Any ethnicity.

Gloria - 20s-30s - Gloria is the quintessential American go-getter, and happily engaged to Bernard. She is beautiful, confident attendant who is engaged to Bernard. She has a big appetite for love and food. She works for TWA. Any ethnicity.
