Please prepare 32 bars of a musical theatre song in the style of the show. Please bring sheet music for your song; a piano accompanist will be provided. Bring a photo/resume stapled together.

SEEKING:
[DONNA](Female, late 30s-early 40s) – The mother of a 20 year Sophie. Attractive and free-spirited. A former lead singer in a group called “Donna and the Dynamos” who now owns and runs a hotel/casino on a Greek island. A strong feminist who also has both a wild and vulnerable side.
[SOPHIE](Female, 18-25) A special young woman who is determined to find the romance and happiness she feels eluded her mother. Has a zany spirit even though she pursues a conventional marriage. She desperately wants to know her father and so invites all the candidates to her wedding. Pop soprano.
[TANYA](Female, 40-50) A former singer in the “Dynamos.” Rich, sophisticated, acerbic, funny, and witty. On her 3rd marriage and ready for the next adventure, as long as it involves a private plane.
[ROSIE](Female, 40-50) Also a former singer in the “Dynamos” who now writes for and runs a feminist press. She’s confident, strong, and funny on the outside but shy underneath. Kooky and fun, good comic actress, bit of a clown.
[SAM](Male, 40-50) May be Sophie’s father. Left Donna 20 years ago because he was engaged to another woman. Charming, successful architect. Actor who sings. Baritone.
[HARRY](Male, 40-50) May be Sophie’s father. British financier, wealthy, buttoned-up, and conservative but trying to reconnect with his freer, youthful self. An actor who sings. High baritone, tenor.
[BILL](Male, 40-50) May be Sophie’s father. A travel writer with no possessions or strings. Good-natured, always ready for adventure and a good time. Should be a very good actor who sings.
[SKY](Male, mid-late 20s) Sophie’s fiancé. Athletic and sexy– has given up his life as a successful young businessman in order to make over Donna¹s tavern and marry Sophie. Tenor.

All characters require highly skilled actor-singers with engaging personalities and strong senses of humor.
COALHOUSE: A leading man of power, presence, pride, character and enormous charisma. His expectations of how he should be treated repeatedly come into direct conflict with how others think he should be treated. His final resort to violence is the climax of the story. Age range: 25-35. Voice: Powerful Baritone with strong high notes; Low Ab - High A
MOTHER. Graceful and gracious on the surface, a product of the upper class but inside there is a spirit and independence she has yet to discover. She experiences many changes through her care for the child of Coalhouse and Sarah, as well as her newfound awareness of her sexuality. She has a wonderful, playful relationship with her son, is always amused by him. She maintains a proper and dutiful relationship with her husband. Age range: 25-35. Voice: Beautiful Soprano with a strong Belt (to C#). Low: G - High F# (optional High B)
TATEH. An incredibly dynamic character, Tateh challenges his old life and seeks a better one for his daughter. Even when it seems he is beaten down by society, his innate strength and humor lift him up. Warm, funny, filled with life and passion; sexy; a survivor; a very clever man. Age range: 35-45. Voice: Baritone with good high notes. Low: A - High: F#
SARAH. Lovely, innocent and simple. She acts on her emotions without thinking. Age range: 18-22. Strong Belter (to D) with a good mix and a nice Soprano. Voice: Low: G - High: F#
FATHER. A good man, proud, upstanding. He represents the traditional views held by many turn-of-the-century Americans. After his return from his trip to the Arctic, he feels alienated from his family and his environment; he is baffled and befuddled by the new world. Age range: 35-40. Voice: Baritone with good high notes: Low: A High: F# YOUNGER BROTHER. Idealistic and difficult, he searches for a sense of self. Obsessed with Evelyn Nesbit, he becomes embittered and depressed, and soon joins The Coalhouse Gang to fight injustice. Age range: 18-24 Voice: Strong Tenor. Low: B High: G# |
