SEEKING
Strong singers who move well. No understudies will be cast. TUTS is committed to diversity and encourages performers of all ethnicities, gender identities, and ages, as well as performers with disabilities to attend this call.
PREPARATION
Please prepare 32 bars of a musical theatre song in the style of a show from the season. Please bring sheet music for your song; a piano accompanist will be provided. Bring a photo/resume stapled together.

SEEKING:
ZACH (Male, 40s) Seeing STAR SUBMISSIONS. Any ethnicity. The Director-Choreographer for whom they are all auditioning. Zach is a workaholic, an egotist, who’s ambitious and forceful but charismatic and cool.
PAUL (Male, mid 20s-early 30s) Hispanic American. Shy and sensitive in life, he’s an incredible dancer on stage. Breaks your heart with his story. A real actor. Tenor
DIANA (Female, mid 20s-early 30s) Hispanic American. Spunky and ‘Bronx’ tough but still a starry-eyed dreamer. Must have an excellent belt.
SHEILA (Female, mid 20s-early 30s) Any ethnicity. A Broadway veteran and the most “adult” at the audition, Shelia always commands attention. Confident, brass, sophisticated, sarcastic and never short a zinger. Her tough exterior covers up her insecurity.
MAGGIE WINSLOW (Female, 20s) Any ethnicity. A little sister type who projects honesty and kindness. A dreamer. Mezzo with a strong high belt.
MIKE COSTA (Male, 20s) Any ethnicity. A cocky but likable guy from New Jersey. Full of personality and charm. Very strong tapper.
RICHIE (Male, late 20s-early 30s). African American, energetic, enthusiastic and likable. A high strong tenor.
CONNIE WONG (Female, late 20s – early 30s). Asian American actress who’s been working professionally since she was a child and playing way under her age for years. Should be 4’10” or very close to. Bright, funny, beloved by all.
VAL (Female, mid 20s) Any ethnicity. A sassy, sexy chorine who wants to be a star and loves attention. She’s confident and fun. Alto
DON KERR (Male, late 20s-early 30s) Any ethnicity. An all-American Midwesterner, who’s married with 2 kids. Very practical about his next steps in this business. High baritone.
GREGORY GARDNER (Male, 30s) Caucasian. Quintessential Upper East-sider. Jewish, stylish, worldly.
BOBBY (Male, mid 20s) Any ethnicity. Uses his sharp tonged wit to make light of every situation. Didn’t fit in growing up and turned his active imagination toward mischief.
BEBE (Female, mid 20s) Any ethnicity. Working class, she uses her sense of humor to cover her insecurities about her looks. She just wants to be liked.
JUDY (Female, mid 20s-early 30) Any ethnicity. Quirky and bit dizzy, her awkwardness disappears when she’s dancing. Has trouble shutting up when she’s nervous.
AL DELUCA (Male, 30s) Caucasian. From the Bronx, street smart and protective of his new wife Kristine. Strong baritone. A real “guy”.
KRISTINE URICH (Female, early 20s) Any ethnicity. Al’s beautiful, leggy wife who is a great dancer but can’t sing.
MARK (Male, early 20s) Any ethnicity. Young, eager, naive, but not dim or shy. Sincere and charming.

WENDLA (Female, 18+ to play teen) Any ethnicity. Innocent. With every passing day, she grows more curious about the world around her and her changing body. Both vulnerable and a willing participant in her evolution. Explores her newly-found sexuality with Melchior. E3 to E5.
MELCHIOR (Male, 18+ to play teen) Any ethnicity. A smart, headstrong boy who refuses to bow down to society's rules. An atheist and radical student. Struggles with his intense feelings for Wendla and his awakening sexual urges. G2 to B4.
MORITZ (Male, 18+ to play teen) Any ethnicity. Melchior's best friend, a troubled student. He desperately tries to please his father, but always seems to disappoint him. His haunting sexual dreams and academic failures eventually drive him to suicide. C3 to A4.
ILSE (Female, 18+ to play teen) Any ethnicity. Martha's sister, who was also abused and has run away from home to live in an artists' colony. She reaches out to her old friend Moritz in the last moments of his life. E3 to E5.
ADULT WOMAN (Female, 30s-40s) Plays a variety of rigid adult roles. Characters include: FRAU BERGMAN, Wendla's mother; FRAULEIN KNUPPELDICK; FRAULEIN GROSSEBUSTENHALTER; FRAU GABOR, Melchior's mother; and FRAU BESSELL, Martha's mother. Should sing (D3 to A4).
ADULT MAN (Male, 40-50) Plays a variety of rigid adult roles. Characters include: HERR SONNENSTITCH, the boys' teacher; HEADMASTER KNOCHENBRUCH; HERR NEUMANN, Ilse's father; HERR RILOW, Hanschen's father; HERR STEIFEL, Moritz's father; FATHER KAULBACH; DOCTOR VON BRAUSEPULVER; HERR GABOR, Melchior's father; and SCHMIDT. WALTER (50s, male) He is a successful business man who has become cold and distant with his family until Buddy enters their life. A workaholic with little time left for enjoying life or appreciating simple things. Strong voiced baritone.
EMILY (50s, Female) Walter’s wife, she has her own successful career but manages to make their son more of a priority. East coast wary about this strange young man who apparently is her husband’s long lost son, she give over to the magic of Christmas which Buddy spreads like maple syrup. Should have a strong belt and dynamic energy.
JOVIE (20s-30s, female) A New Yorker who doesn’t have much Christmas spirit. Quirky and independent she thinks Buddy is an absolute odd-ball but also charming. Strong belt.
STORE MANAGER (30s-50s, Male) Funny, physically large, full of character, lots of attitude, spirited. Must be able to sing well and have great comic timing.
DEB (30s-40s female) Walter’s hilarious secretary. Looking for a bright fun actress with a strong character point of view and a bold voice.
MR. GREENWAY (50s Male) A tough businessman, must have a strong singing voice and great comic timing.
SANTA (50s-60s Male) He’s Santa - jolly, warm, funny, and can sing!
