Seeking strong dancers, actors, and singers. Local actors encouraged to attend.

An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition.

BREAKDOWN

Equity encourages everyone participating in the auditions to wear a two-ply cloth face mask, surgical mask, singer’s mask or respirator (N95, KN95 or KF94). Single-ply face masks, gaiters and bandanas are not recommended. Singer’s masks can be found at www.broadwayreliefproject.com/singersmask.

Equity encourages members to prepare for their audition prior to arriving at the audition venue, to the extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and dressing rooms.

DOROTHY GALE: Young Kansas girl, earnest, expressive, and strong-willed, in search of something more. On the cusp of adulthood. Very strong singer who moves well.

SCARECROW / HUNK: Clever and resourceful despite his perceived lack of a brain. Has an honest warmth. Excellent, pliable dancer – acrobatic skills a plus, open to specialties.

TIN MAN / HICKORY: A romantic desperate for a heart. Kind and gentle, with a wry sense of humor. Singing and dance required, possibly tap or soft shoe. Open to specialties.

COWARDLY LION / ZEKE: A mix of bravado and cowardice. Moves well. Agile, likable with excellent comic timing, unafraid to be goofy and physically expressive.

WIZARD / PROFESSOR: Older father figure with an eccentric flair. Basic conjuring or sleight of hand a bonus. Non-Singing.

WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST / MISS ALMIRA GULCH: Character villain with an over-the-top stage presence. Excellent comic, has a killer cackle. Crafty and menacing, one of the great theatrical baddies.

Gender: Female

Age range: 35-65

GLINDA / AUNT EM: Glinda is the Good Witch of the North. Benevolent and beloved, graceful but also whimsical. Strong singer.

Aunt Em is no-nonsense, but loves her niece and defends her fiercely. Non-singing. Gender: Female

Age range: 35-65

UNCLE HENRY / EMERALD CITY GUARD: Henry is Dorothy’s uncle, easy going and hard-working. Dry sense of humor. Non-singing.

Guard: Baritone voice. Strong comic, big presence.

WINKIES / CROWS / TREES / JITTERBUG / FLYING MONKEYS / OZIANS / ADULT MUNCHKINS: The chorus of the show, with featured speaking/vocal/dancing roles available. Singing and movement required.
