Prepare 16-32 bars of a traditional up-tempo song and a one minute comic monologue.
Bring sheet music in your key- an accompanist will be provided. No tapes or CDs allowed. Bring a non-returnable resume and headshot. Dance combinations will be taught on a later date at the call back audition

Seeking:
4 Men. All performers must be proficient at tight harmonies and move very well:
Francis - Second Tenor-Lyric Baritone Despite his humility, he is "Romantic Crooner". In "Chain Gang" he sings his heart out like a great spiritual singer.
Jinx – Tenor The shy one. He is terrified. He is Sparky's step-brother and there is little step-sibling rivalry going on between them. He transforms during "Cry"and sheds his fears to be the star we always thought he could be.
Smudge – Bass The worrier. He worries about the props, about the running order and always assumes that the audience won't like him. At "Rags to Riches" he lets go of this and just "is." - He bowls us over with sheer stage presence and musical prowess. At the end he's the last one to want to leave. SMUDGE wears glasses which hides his good looks and sex appeal.
Sparky – Baritone The clown-the imp-the scamp. The "cut-up" of the group. He is the comic engine of the show. He has his moment of tenderness during THE PERRY COMO session. He has to admit to Mr. "C" what he did was wrong. Since he starts out with great verve and showmanship, his arc has to soften. The class clown is shown to have a heart.

Seeking:
Marge Gelman (mid to late 20’s; mezzo soprano, comfortable to an E; legit sound) Abandoned at the altar, Marge is an aspiring dentist from Brooklyn who finds herself in the Catskills on what would have been her honeymoon weekend. Duped into falling for the suave band leader, she ultimately finds self-esteem, learns the value of honesty and friendship and finds love where she least expected it.
Lois Warner (mid to late 20’s; alto with some mezzo-soprano ability, comfortable to a C; pop sound) An aspiring night club singer, Lois lives her life as if in a Betty Grable movie. She brings her best friend Marge up from Brooklyn to the Catskills to help her recover from heartbreak. With Marilyn Monroe simplicity, she is a sweet young girl with more heart than brainpower.
Del DelMonaco (late 20’s to 30’s; tenor, comfortable to an A, possibly higher) An Elvis wannabe, Del is not the brightest bulb on the tree. (Think Conrad Birdie or Joey from Friends) Del will do anything to get ahead, including misleading Marge into thinking he loves her and stealing his cousin Gabe’s songs for his own use.
Gabe (mid to late 20’s; tenor, Bb-C range) The clumsy, brainy and terribly shy Guy Friday at the hotel, Gabe is on a fast track to joining his father’s orthodontia practice. Lacking the self-confidence to perform his own music, he is secretly the songwriter genius behind the music Del claims as his own. When Gabe meets Marge, he is compelled to take action and win her heart.
Esther (Mid 40’s to 60’s; alto, comfortable to a C; rich in her low to mid register) The owner of the mid-size hotel named after her, Esther is a survivor. Since the death of her husband, she has single-handedly kept the hotel afloat using crafty solutions, boundless energy and creativity to keep guest happy. She is fiercely independent, refusing help or support from anyone.
Harvey (Mid 40’s to 60’s; baritone, comfortable to a F# or G) The resident comedian/social director at Esther’s hotel, Harvey is old-school Catskills. He is all about the punch line (and the set up.) A confirmed bachelor, he spends most of his life wise cracking and avoiding any show of genuine emotion or vulnerability.
