Breakdown

Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show

A satirical tribute to the science fiction and B-list horror movies of the 20th century, the show centers around two naïve lovers, Brad and Janet. Seeking shelter from a thunderstorm in an old castle, they find themselves thrust into the laboratory of the cross-dressing mad scientist Dr. Frank 'N' Furter and his motley crew. Stripped of inhibitions - and their clothes - Brad and Janet embark on a wild, unforgettable journey of pleasure and self-discovery. Reality, fiction, and camp collide in this mash-up of comics, rock and roll, and late-night horror flicks.

*Please note that there will not be an ensemble of Transylvanians in this production.
**Cygnet Theatre is strongly encouraging actors of all ethnicities to attend auditions.
***The roles of BRAD and FRANK have been cast.
**** All characters appear in some form of stockings and high heels.

Janet- 20s, a naive and sheltered young woman who discovers her sensuality and sexuality after being seduced by Frank N Furter.

Columbia, 20s-30s, a groupie. Once lover to Eddie and Frank. Heavy dance role.

Riff Raff 20s-30s, Seems to be a servant, but is in fact a second-in-command space alien on a mission from his planet. After playing subservient to Frank, mutinies and takes over the mission. Heavy dance role.

Eddie/Dr. Scott 30s-40s, Eddie is a 50s style rocker/biker. Part zombie. Sings heavy hard rock and roll. Has half a brain. Dr. Scott is his uncle and coincidentally a scientist and specialist on space aliens at the Bureau for the investigation of UFOs. He is a Dr. Strangelove type, wheelchair bound and possibly an ex-Nazi. Sings gospel/rock and roll.

Magenta, 20s-30s, Appears to be a domestic servant but is in fact a space alien who, with her brother, Riff Raff, mutinies and takes over the mission. Heavy dance role.

Rocky 20s-30s, Muscular boy-toy creation of Frank N Furter. A perfect specimen. Sings heavy rock.

Criminologist 30s-60s, Intense narrator and possible psychic. Tells a great story full of thrills, suspense and ultimately tragedy. Must be able to improvise and handle a vocal audience if need be.
