Breakdown

ALL singers and dancers will be required to dance.
ALL singers and dancers must make an appointment to sing at one of the Singer Calls.

MAX BIALYSTOCK: 40’s - 50’s. A formerly successful Broadway producer who now fleeces wealthy elderly women to support his
failing business. Loud, pushy, fast talking, and always one step ahead of getting caught ‘in the act.’ New York born and bred, shrewd, intelligent and likeable dirty old man. Must be able to sing well (baritone/tenor up to a G) and must be a world-class comic actor.

LEO BLOOM: late 20’s – 40’s. Timid by-the-book accountant turned Broadway producer. He lived a monotonous and uneventful life until his ‘business venture’ with Max. New York born and bred. An extremely likeable loser who eventually comes into his own, and gets the girl. Must sing well (baritone/tenor, up to G) and must dance or at least move very well.

FRANZ LIEBKIND: The author of ‘Springtime For Hitler’, 30’s – 40’s. Strong character/comedic actor. High Baritone voice (up to F). Must move well. Born and raised in Milwaukee (of German descent). He is slightly deranged and under
the delusional belief that he served under Hitler as a soldier of the Third Reich.

ULLA: The Swedish Bombshell and assistant to Bialystock and Bloom. Sexy, voluptuous, very attractive. Minimum height 5’8” preferable. Comedic actress who can fake a Swedish accent. Great belt voice. Strong dance ability, including tap, leggy high kicks and splits.

ROGER DEBRIS: The director who goes on to play Hitler in ‘Springtime For Hitler.’ 40’s – 60’s. Great comedic actor. High baritone voice (up to G). Must move well. Former Broadway chorus dancer turned unsuccessful director/choreographer. Larger than life, flamboyant, self involved, delusional with a bent towards the grandiose. Must be played by a bold and comically gifted actor.

CARMEN GHIA: The assistant of Roger De Bris. 20’s – 30’s. Excellent comedy required. High baritone/tenor (up to A flat with strong falsetto).

MALE & FEMALE ENSEMBLE: ALL ethnicities, 20s – 50s. Ensemble is made up of performers of all shapes and sizes who will play various characters throughout. Ensemble should be strong dancers who sing well, with great technique, big personalities, comic skills and excellent singers who move very well, with versatile, characterful voices of all ranges and types.
