SEEKING

Equity actors of all ethnicities for 3 available roles. 3 other roles have been CAST, but actors may be considered for possible replacements should any become needed. Please see breakdown for details. Quintessence is committed to diversity in casting.

Actors will read from sides at the audition. Bring picture and resume.

BREAKDOWN

Seeking actors of all ethnicities for the following roles:

Actor 4:
Male. Plays the following roles (ages 30-60)
John Canty: Tom Canty's alcoholic and abusive father. A professional thief.
Lord Hertford: Uncle of Edward VI, a born politician, later Lord Protector.
And ensemble roles.


Actor 5:
Female. Plays the following roles (ages 20-50)
Mother Canty: Tom's poor, kind, and ignorant mother.
The Ruffler: Chief of a band of thieves, beggars, prostitutes, and con-men.
Sergeant Bowers: A soldier in the King's Guard.
The Hermit: A religious fanatic on a mission of revenge.
And ensemble roles.

Actor 6:
Female. Plays the following roles (ages 20-50)
Grandma Canty: Tom's alcoholic and abusive grandmother. A professional beggar.
Lord St. John: A high-placed and officious nobleman in the court of Henry VIII.
Lady Edith: Miles' good-hearted childhood friend, Hugh's wife.
Humphrey: Edward VI's whipping-boy.
And ensemble roles.

The following roles are CAST. Actors will be considered as replacements only:

Actor 1:
Role CAST. Plays Edward Tudor: The Prince. A ten year old boy, son of Henry VIII. Regal and privileged, yet capable of great empathy for the suffering of others.

Actor 2:
Role CAST. Plays Tom Canty: The Pauper. A ten year old boy, the son of a very poor family in the slums of London. A dreamy and imaginative youth with high aspirations.

Actor 3:
Role CAST. Plays the following:
Henry VIII: a giant man, in every way, though in extremely ill health
Miles Hendon: newly returned from war abroad, becomes Edward's friend and protector.
And ensemble roles.
