A creative team that has amassed an astounding 16 Tony Awards, 4 Pulitzer Prizes, 6 Pulitzer finalist distinctions, 3 Emmys, and 1 Academy Award joins forces at the Globe for an exuberant world premiere dance-theatre musical! Ten of America’s best theatrical storytellers (the minds behind such hits as The Full Monty, Driving Miss Daisy, M. Butterfly, and Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike) join director-choreographer Christopher Gattelli (Newsies, The King and I) and composer Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime) to create a ravishing evening that glides, leaps, and twirls through the giddy extremes of romantic love. This unique event ranges across eras and cultures and tells its stories through the universal language of dance, from classical ballet to swing to tap to ballroom to jazz to flamenco and more. In Your Arms is as intoxicating as a sunset cocktail and as exhilarating as a first kiss.
Roles will be understudied.
Available roles:
Beane 1 – Offer out. Male: 20s. A handsome young man who embodies the energy, elegance and optimism of the Roaring Twenties. He is the top male model of his generation and a celebrity of sorts. Strong well-rounded dancer with incredible ballet training and beautiful extension. Must be a strong partner. Experience in Fox Trot and all styles of Ballroom a plus.
Beane 2 – Male. 30- 50. A dashing and sensitive man. A painter with an aching heart at the tail end of the Roaring Twenties. Very strong partner with a strong ballet foundation. Experience with Fox Trot a plus.
Cruz 1- Offer out. Female: 20s, Spaniard. Post Revolution Spain, 1939. The tavern owner’s daughter. In love with a defiant and troublemaking revolutionary. Must be a very strong Flamenco dancer. Experience in Tango and partnering skills a plus.
Cruz 2- Offer out. Male. 20s, Spaniard. Post Revolution Spain, 1939. A tavern worker and stymied revolutionary with the grace and stature of a bullfighter. Deeply in love with the daughter of the tavern owner. Openly defies the Fascists, jeopardizing his life and love for his political convictions. Must be a very strong Flamenco dancer. Partnering skills a plus.
Durang 1 – Offer out. Male: (SOVIET) 20s-30s, Soviet pairs dancer in an International Dance Competition, deep behind The Iron Curtain at height of the Cold War. Could have easily become a cosmonaut and raced to space alone side of Yuri Gagarin but his feet and love of a girl, his dance partner, told him otherwise. His Cold War is fought on the dance floor, with his love by his side. Experience in ballroom a plus.
Durang 2- Offer out. Female: 20s-30s, Soviet pairs dancer competing in an International Dance Competition, deep behind The Iron Curtain at height of the Cold War. A poor peasant who became the face of Soviet ballroom dance. She is the ballroom dance equivalent of Baryshnikov with all the accolades but none of the technique. Basically, a propped up Soviet champion. Bored by it all. Possesses an acute Chekhovian sense of hopelessness and despair. Not so good with guns. Should have experience in ballroom and partnering.
Fisher 1- Offer out. Male: 20s. A drifter and a vagabond who stumbles upon the girl of his dreams in the City of Light. His heart ignites and he pursues the girl and the happy ending with all he’s got. Must be an excellent solo tapper and a strong partner. A well-rounded dancer. Experience in ballroom a plus.
Fisher 2- Offer out. Female: 20s. The prettiest, most popular girl in Paris who tires of fighting off so many pesky suitors. She longs to live and love and dance without complication. Must be proficient en pointe and a strong partner. A well rounded dancer. Experience in ballroom a plus.
Hwang 1- Female. Asian, 20-30 years old, an office assistant, mousey and awkward but also hard-working and determined. Takes extreme pride in her work. Doubles as the legendary White Snake, a powerful fighter of long ago. Strong well-rounded dancer and partner with incredible extension. Experience in Shaolin Kung Fu a plus. Ballroom a plus.
Hwang 2-Male. Caucasian, 20-30. An Ivy League, All-American junior manager in Shanghai based multinational corporation. Strong well-rounded dancer and partner. Experience in Shaolin Kung Fu a plus. Ballroom a plus.
McNally 1-Female. 60s-70s. A retired ballet dancer, steady and centered. A caretaker to her terminally ill husband. Experience with ballet and ballroom a plus.
McNally 2-Male. 60s-70s. A retired ballet dancer, eager and impulsive with a boyish sense of wonder. Terminally ill. Experience with ballet and ballroom a plus.
Norman 1 – Offer out. Female. 30s-40s. A filmmaker. Passionate. Committed. Loses herself in her work and in her loves. Risks her heart. Loves her husband and her lover equally. Strong well-rounded dancer with incredibly strong partnering skills and ballet technique. Experience with ballroom a plus
Norman 2- Offer out. Male: 30s-40s. A gambler and romantic. Drop dead gorgeous, kind and funny. He’s a groom for thoroughbred horses at Churchill Downs who has an idea for a scheme to make a living betting on the horses. Fully committed to his wife and his lover. Strong well-rounded dancer with incredibly strong partnering skills and ballet technique. Experience with ballroom a plus.
Nottage 1- Offer out. Male. African, 20s. A groom. Proud, strong. A traditional man who long for a new life to begin with his most cherished bride. Present day. Strong well-rounded dancer who should be well versed in West African dance. Experience with ballroom a plus.
Nottage 2- Offer out. Female: African, 20s. A bride. Inwardly and outwardly strong. Deeply in love with her husband and enamored by the possibilities of their new beginning. Strong well-rounded dancer who should be well versed in West African and Contemporary dance. Experience with ballroom a plus.
Rajiv 1- Offer out. Male: 20s-40s. A lonely guy with an affinity for the stars. A dreamer and a drinker. Strong well-rounded dancer. Experience in ballroom a plus.
Rajiv 2- Offer out. Female: 20s-30s. Sexy and mysterious. A teenage boys’ fantasy girl come to life. Strong well-rounded dancer. Experience in ballroom a plus.
Uhry 1- Offer out. Male: 18 years old, 1950s, the star quarterback with a heart of gold. Surefooted on the gridiron but a bit fumble-y with his sweetheart, as most teen boys tend to be. Strong well-rounded dancer with strong partnering skills and ballet technique. Experience in ballroom and Swing a necessity.

Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! is a wonderful, whimsical musical based upon the classic Dr. Seuss book. Back for its 18th incredible year, the family favorite features the songs “This Time of Year,” “Santa for a Day” and “Fah Who Doraze,” the delightful carol from the popular animated version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Celebrate the holidays as the Old Globe Theatre is once again transformed into the snow-covered Whoville, right down to the last can of Who-hash.
Roles will be understudied.
Available roles.
Papa Who. Offer out. (Male, 30s – early 40s) The father of the family, the calm eye of the family storm. Goodness and benevolence pour out of him. A moral example for the rest of Whoville. Needs a strong high baritone or baritenor singing voice.
Mama Who Offer out. (Female, 30s – early 40s) Quirky, funny, on the brink of saturation but still maintaining complete control. Until… Needs a strong, warm soprano singing voice with chest range as well.
Grandpa Who Offer out. ( Male, mid 40s – 50s) The eldest of the family, comically hard of hearing. Not unlike Grandpa Simpson. Needs a strong character baritone singing voice.
Grandma Who Offer out. (Female, mid 40s – 50s) Loving, has the ear of the children and the patience to calm them. Needs a strong character mezzo singing voice.
Ensemble Adults, Male and Female, 20s – 40s. Offers out. Seeking different types and vivid personalities. The more physically versatile the better. Need strong singing voices of all types.

Truly the event of 2016, Rain marks Artistic Director Barry Edelstein’s musical directing debut. This sumptuous world premiere brings to San Diego one of the most exciting teams working in theatre today: Michael John LaChiusa and Sybille Pearson. Based on Somerset Maugham’s famous short story, Rain follows a group of American travelers thrown together in a boarding house on a tropical South Pacific island. The sudden arrival of another guest, the mysterious and provocative Sadie Thompson, turns their lives upside down in ways they could never have foreseen. Featuring a lush and stirring score by LaChiusa, the genius behind Broadway’s The Wild Party, Rain is a powerful and sweeping musical drama.
