Do you love creating and performing in an ensemble? Does being outdoors invigorate you? This summer, TigerLion Arts (creators of Nature, The Dragons are Singing Tonight, KIPO!) will partner with master Tibetan performing artist, Tenzin Ngawang, and the Tibetan American Foundation of Minnesota (TAFM) to redesign and restage their acclaimed production of The Buddha Prince. This extraordinary production, an outdoor walking play that engages its pedestrian audience, celebrates the remarkable life and teachings of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama (HHDL). Rich in history and culture, The Buddha Prince will incorporate traditional and original Tibetan songs, dances, and puppetry to tell the dramatic story of the Dalai Lama’s life, from his early peasant years in Tibet to becoming head of state and spiritual leader of the Tibetan government-in-exile based in Dharamsala, India. It is an especially important story to be told to audiences in Minnesota, which is home to the second largest Tibetan population in North America. Special performances from The Buddha Prince will be presented at TAFM’s annual summer gatherings, in celebration of HHDL’s 88th birthday.
