Breakdown

Pops Bailey – Doorman, over 60. Crotchety, wizened stage door keeper.

Lou Cohn – Stage manager. Cues the show & runs sound effects. Plenty of authority & no real responsibility.

Clifton A. Feddington – Announcer & general manager. Always has problems, but is genuine & vulnerable. Singing required. Range C to middle C

Neal Tilden – The show’s not too talented comic. Wants to do it all, sing, dance & act. Would like to be more important than he is. Sings & dances. Range C to C#

Biff Baker – All American boy who is in uniform & will be going overseas tomorrow. Maybe plays the trumpet & definitely sings & dances. C to C

Johnny Cantone – Featured vocalist. Crooner who drinks too much even during the show. Sad, but sweet. Good looking, but never became what he might have been. Sings. Range A to D

BJ Gibson – Student at Yale. Sings, taps & does a mean jitterbug. Very aggressive about his career. Good looking & squeaky clean. Range Bb to D

Wally Ferguson – to play late teens, works in the drugstore across the street. Brings food & drink to the cast, but really wants to be one of them. We love him because his is so innocent and eager.

Stanley – studio technician who lugs cable. Not too bright, but lovable.

Ann Collier – “Classic Big Band Singer” of the period. Dances. Everybody’s favorite, but what’s she doing here with all that talent? Range Gb to Cb

Geneva Lee Brown – African-American high class lady with a voice like velvet. Dressed to kill. Can be brassy & sassy too. Range F - C

Connie Miller – Bobbysoxer. High energy with good singing voice. Has a bit of the young Judy Garland in her. Taps & jitterbugs. Range C to D

Ginger Brooks – Bubble headed parody of a ‘40’s “pin up girl.” Sings, dances and is always aware of herself and her sexuality. Range F to C
