Equity Members without appointments will be seen throughout the audition day, as time permits.

Accompanist provided Tuesday, May 17 only. IF AUDITIONING ONLY FOR NON-MUSICAL SHOWS, please prepare two contrasting monologues together totaling no more than three (3) minutes. IF AUDITIONING FOR SHOWS INCLUDING MUSICAL, please prepare one or two monologues and 32 bars of a song, together totaling no more than three (3) minutes. If singing, bring sheet music in the correct key; accompanist is provided, but may not transpose. No dancing at this audition.

Please bring two current headshot/resumes. Bring your Equity card to the audition.

Callbacks for specific productions will be scheduled for a later time.

Seeking adult, professional actors. All roles listed will be (or may be) on AEA contracts. All listed roles are available unless otherwise specified. For roles listed as “CAST”, auditioning performers will be considered as possible (emergency) replacements, should any become necessary.

Note: No housing is available to out-of-area performers.

A CHRISTMAS STORY by Jean Shepherd. Adaptation: Phillip Grecian. Dir: Lauren Shouse. 1st reh: 11/21. Runs 12/8-12/22. All roles (Ralph, The Old Man/Others, Mom/Others, Randy/Others, Flick/Others, Schwartz/Others, and Scut Farkas/Others) are CAST.

GOD OF CARNAGE by Yasmina Reza. Dir: René Copeland. 1st reh: 1/12/12. Run 2/4 – 2/18/12. All roles will be on AEA contracts.

40s. Michael’s wife. “… a writer … works part-time in an Art History bookshop.”

SUPERIOR DONUTS by Tracy Letts. Dir: Lauren Shouse. 1st reh: 2/23/12. Runs 3/17 – 3/31/12.

Theatre expects to use a minimum of six AEA contracts.

Setting: Superior Donuts, a small donut shop in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood, owned by Arthur Przybyszewski. Franco Wicks, who becomes his only employee, wants to change the shop for the better. This comedy-drama explores the challenges of embracing the past, and the redemptive power of friendship.

Max Tarasov:

Russian, 49. Came to America eleven years ago. Owns a DVD shop.

Officer Randy Osteen:

Irish American woman, 49. Chicago cop, James’s partner.

Officer James Bailey:

African American, 43. Chicago cop, Randy’s partner.

Lady Boyle:

Irish American woman, 72. Homeless.

Arthur Przybyszewski:

Polish American, 59. Owner of the donut shop.

Franco Wicks:

African American, 21. Street-wise aspiring writer. Comes to work in Arthur’s donut shop.

Luther Flynn:

Irish/Italian American, 45. Chicago “businessman”.

Kevin Magee:

Irish American, 28. Works for Luther.

Kiril Ivakin:

Russian man, 35. Works for Max. Enormous. Speaks most lines in Russian.

LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS Music: Alan Menken. Book/Lyrics: Howard Ashman. Dir: René Copeland, Mus Dir: Paul Carrol Binkley. 1st reh: 4/2/12. Runs 4/26 – 5/19/12. Theatre expects to use a minimum of six AEA contracts.

Seymour:

“Mid-twenties, perhaps balding a little … a sweet and well-meaning man …”

Audrey:

“The bleached blonde, Billie-Dawn-like, secret love of Seymour’s life...”

Mr. Mushnik:

“Their boss. A failure of an East Side florist.”

Orin / Others:

“A tall, dark, handsome dentist with a black leather jacket and sadistic tendencies.”

Audrey Two / Derelict:

Primarily puppet manipulation, also Wino #1 in opening scene.

Voice Of Audrey Two:

“… a cross between Otis Redding, Barry White and Wolfman Jack.”

Chiffon, Crystal and Ronnette:

African American. “Three … female street urchins … They’re young, hip, smart and the only people in the whole cast who really know what’s going on …”

Theatre’s statement: “Full and fair casting consideration will be given to ethnic minorities, women, seniors and actors with disabilities.”
