SEEKING:

TRUVY JONES: (She/Her, late 30s-40s) Owner of a small-town beauty shop. She knows everyone’s business and shares it with anyone who will listen. Southern Belle. She always has advice which often comes in the form of southern truisms you might find on a needlepoint sampler.

SHELBY EATENTON-LATCHERIE: (She/Her, early–mid 20s) The prettiest girl in town who is loved by all. She rebels a bit against her mother’s over-protective nature.

CLAIREE BELCHER: (She/Her, 60s) Former mayor of Chinquapin. She is wealthy and knows everyone’s business. She can be sarcastic and loves to poke fun at the others. She is very close with Ouiser.

OUISER BOURDEAUX: (She/Her, 60s) A wealthy “old bitty” who is loveably miserable. Her unique personality is a great comic relief for the others. She is very close to Clairee.

NEWSIES: (All Gender Identities to play Male-Presenting and Female-Presenting Newsies, Late teens - Mid 20s) Strong Dancer/Singers to play various Newsies. Tumbling a plus.

JACK: (He/Him, 18-25 years old) Charismatic, passionate leader of the Newsies. A street-smart kid with an artistic soul right beneath the bluster. Honest, tough, loyal, and confident. Has a great pop tenor voice. Good mover. Vocal Range: B to A-flat.

DAVEY: (He/Him, 18-25 years old) A thinker. Raised in a home as opposed to the other Newsies, Davey is the book-smart counterpoint to the other boys. The voice of reason. Has a great, pure contemporary tenor voice. Vocal Range: D to A

LES: (He/Him, 10-12 years old) The fearless kid brother of Davey, but an old-soul. Excited by everything the world has to offer and eager to join in the adventure. Fun is this kid’s middle name. Sings really well. Vocal Range: D to C-sharp

CRUTCHIE: (He/Him, 18-25 years old) A big-hearted, loyal friend. He walks with the aid of a crutch due to a bad leg, but that doesn’t hold him back from being right in the middle of any mischief. A real charmer, and an innocent. Vocal Range: A to B-flat
