BREAKDOWN

SWEET CHARITY

SEEKING:

CHARITY HOPE VALENTINE: Female presenting. An optimistic, generous and compassionate dance hall hostess with a heart of gold. Despite working at the Fandango Ballroom (and her trouble with men), Charity always has a smile on her face and an optimistic spirit about her.

Charismatic singer/dancer with strong comedic timing.

NICKIE/OTHERS: Female presenting. One of Charity's best friends working at the Fandango Ballroom. Nickie, who does not share Charity's optimistic outlook on life, serves as a mother figure to Charity. She is somewhat jaded and weathered from her many years at the Fandango, but still dreams of getting out. A strong singer and dancer. Will double in ensemble.

HELENE/OTHERS: Black/African descent, female presenting. Another of Charity's best friends working at the Fandango. Quick witted, slightly cynical and sharp tongued. Strong belt voice and strong dance ability. Will also double in the ensemble.

OSCAR LINDQUIST/OTHERS: Male presenting. Charity's slightly neurotic boyfriend (throughout the major portion of the musical) who has trouble dealing with his own insecurities, not to mention his insecurity over Charity's current profession. Bari-tenor who moves well with strong comedic timing. Will also double in ensemble.

VITTORIO VIDAL/OTHERS: Male presenting. A popular ego-centric Italian movie star who meets up with Charity, takes her to the Pompeii Club, and then back to his apartment where he discovers what a truly great human she is. Operatic bari-tenor with commanding stage presence. Moves well. Will double multiple character roles in the ensemble.

URSALA MARCH/OTHERS: Female presenting. Vittorio’s over the top, model-esque girlfriend. Spoiled, stubborn, and headstrong. Strong comedic timing and strong dancer. Female presenting. Will double in ensemble and also play various character roles.

HERMAN/OTHERS: Male presenting. The obnoxious and overbearing owner of the Fandango Ballroom who ends up being a big teddy bear. Strong character with a big tenor voice. Will also double in the ensemble and play multiple character roles.

DADDY BRUBECK/OTHERS: Black/African descent, male presenting. The charismatic minister at the Rhythm of Life church. Larger than life personality. Stylized bari-tenor singing voice and strong comedic timing. Dances. Will also double as various character roles in the ensemble.
