This romantic musical comedy is set in an “Adult Community” in Boynton Beach Florida where six South Florida seniors who, after the death of their spouses, become friends at a bereavement support group and explore the changed world of dating and Act II of their lives. The Musical shows the infinite possibilities of life over 50. Based on the movie of the same name.

LOIS PAULSON: an attractive, vivacious, blonde of 60. Optimistic by nature, despite recent romantic disappointments. A successful interior decorator who is proud of her good taste and sense of style. Must have powerful, mezzo voice with a large range (low and high, using both belt and head voice.)

JACK GOODMAN: a widower in his mid 60s; old-fashioned, gentlemanly and shy. Could be a little out of shape. After 38 years of marriage, he is having a hard time suddenly adjusting to life alone, but making an effort to get out of the house and make new friends. Kind, attractive, although a bit out of shape. Strong baritone voice.

MARILYN CARTER: a traditional homemaker who had a very close relationship with her recently deceased husband, MARTY. She’s still reeling from his sudden death. Full figured, plain speaking. Over the course of the show, she blossoms into an independent, strong and confident woman. Alto or mezzo with a solid belt. Must be a strong singer.

HARRY FANELLI: a hip guy of 70. Self-assured and cocky, with a thick head of hair that he is very proud of. In his high school days he played in a rock n’ roll band and still thinks of himself as a chick magnet. A good dancer, singer and comic actor; high baritone preferred.

DONALD BEST: handsome, charming. 45 - 50. Lois’s new “younger” boyfriend. Exudes confidence, sophistication and charisma, but somewhat secretive about his past. Baritone or 2nd tenor voice, with a cutting edge.

SANDY WILLS: an elegant and attractive woman with an air of insecurity and an eagerness to please. She has a secret in her past which accounts for her overly accommodating manner. Preferably a soprano, but could be a mezzo with high notes.
