APPOINTMENTS

Equity actors may secure an appointment by emailing your desired time range and union status to casting@studiotheatre.org with “Your Name: EPA 2020-2021” as the subject. You will receive a confirmation email with your timeslot. EMC and non-Equity actors will be seen as time permits. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are strongly encouraged

CONTRACT

SPT Main Series: SPT 10, $769 minimum weekly

SEEKING

Equity actors and singers for various roles in the first 4 shows in the 2020-21 Main Series Season. See breakdown. Performers of all ethnic and racial background are encouraged to attend.

PREPARATION

One contemporary monologue, no longer than 90 seconds. Bring picture and resume.

Setting:
Helen County High, the only high school in a one-stoplight town, northeast Georgia; junior year, 2018

Seeking:
CARTER SMITH – teacher, mid-30s. charming and thoughtful and a little goofy. he’s a great teacher.

SHELBY HOLCOMB – student, 16, F. people have always underestimated her.

BETH POWELL – student, 17, F. nervous and ambitious and enthusiastic. kind of like if Rory Gilmore and Paris Geller had a baby and raised her in the Deep South.

NELL SHAW – student, 17, F. from Atlanta. just because she’s ahead of the curve and ballsy as hell doesn’t mean she isn’t also vulnerable.

IVY WATKINS – student, 16, F. sheltered. from old Southern money. fiercely loyal and always well-intentioned. Resist the urge to play her as a mean girl.

RAELYNN NIX – student, 16. a cheerleader type who’s always lived her life by other peoples’ standards. razor-sharp but has no idea – until she does.

MASON ADAMS – student, 17, M. on the basketball team. earnest and affable.

LEE TURNER – student, 16. M. a carhart-wearing good ol’ boy. he’s always been good at getting what he wants.

BAILEY GALLAGHER – counselor, 24. sweet and genuine. this is her first real job out of college. she’s doing her best.

A town of 7,000 in western Wyoming August 19, 2017 Two days before the solar eclipse. One week after the Charlottesville riot. The night of Gina’s inauguration as president of Transfiguration College of Wyoming

Setting:
A series of bedrooms: a boarding school dorm room, a bedroom in a suburban-but-not-too-far from- Detroit house, a college dorm room, a bedroom at an artists’ retreat somewhere in the woods. The first two scenes with Jonah exist outside, but near, the boarding school dorm room. The setting there could feel only half-realized, half-imagined, still taking shape or coming into view. I imagine by the third scene the sense of place could snap into focus.

ANA – ages 16 through 30’s or early 40
