APPOINTMENTS

For a three-minute appointment, please follow this link and complete the online audition form: http://www.studiotenn.com/audition-sign-ups. Once you fill out the online form, you will be contacted via email by our audition coordinator. If you do not have access to Internet or email, you may call 615-541-8200 to schedule an appointment. Please only call if you DO NOT have access to Internet or email. AEA members without appointments seen throughout each audition day, as time permits.

CONTRACT

SPT SPT Tier 7, salary pending (2018-19 weekly minimum: $530):

SEEKING

Equity actors and singers for various roles in the 2019-20 season.

Plan to arrive 15 minutes before your appointment, and bring a full size headshot & resume, stapled back-to-back. We will not be able to print material for you on site.

AT THIS TIME, WE ARE NOT CASTING CHILD ROLES. NON-AEA ACTORS MUST BE HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS OR OLDER TO AUDITION.

PREPARATION

Your audition package should total no more than 3 minutes of prepared material. This audition can include any of the following options:

1) 32 bars of a song
2) One 2 minute monologue
3) 16 bars of a song AND a 1 minute monologue

PLEASE NOTE: Scenes and songs from this year’s productions will be available on our website as an alternative to using your own material. If this is your first time auditioning with us, we encourage you to audition with your own material.

If singing, bring sheet music in the correct key; accompanist is provided (all days), but will not transpose. Please do not sing A Cappella. A reader is provided to read sides.

In attendance at the EPAs will be Benji Kern (Artistic Director), Todd Morgan (Managing Director), Beki Baker (Director), as well as an accompanist and a reader.

OTHER DATES

Callbacks and Dance Call will be held as needed, currently scheduled for April 12-14. You must attend open call auditions to be invited to dance call. You will be notified via email if you are needed at callbacks.

OTHER

Non-equity actors will be seen on each day as time permits when no Equity Member is auditioning or waiting.

An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of audition.

SOPHIE SHERIDAN (CAST) - Young woman with an energetic, adventurous spirit ready to leave the island she is from and pursue a traditional family.

DONNA SHERIDAN (CAST) - Sophie’s mother. She owns the Taverna and was once the lead singer of “Donna and the Dynamos” (belter). Honest and hard-working. Delivers very vulnerable solos throughout the entire show.

SAM CARMICHAEL (CAST) - May be Sophie’s father, regrettably left Donna 20 years ago to become engaged with another woman. He is a wealthy architect who is confident and composed.

BILL AUSTIN- May be Sophie's father. He is a travelling writer with no possessions. Good-natured and humorous.
Male, 40-50/ Vocal range: Bb2-F#4/ Any ethnicity

HARRY BRIGHT- May be Sophie's father. He is a wealthy, British financier who is conservative and put-together, though trying to reconnect with his youthful spirit.

SKY- Sophie's fiancé. He is athletic, charming, and was once a successful businessman. Left that lifestyle to support Donna with the Taverna and marry Sophie.

TANYA- As a former Dynamo, she is one of Donna’s oldest and best friends. She married several millionaires and flirts mercilessly with young men in a wild, fun-loving fashion.

ROSIE (CAST) - Former Dynamo, is friends with Donna. She is an author of cookbooks. Very free-spirited, comical, and exudes confidence through self-deprecating jokes.

LISA & ALI- College friends and bridesmaids of Sophie. They are energetic, wild, and fun.

ELLA - An obedient and sweet young girl, sees the good in everyone despite her hardships and suffering from her stepmother and stepsisters. We see her blossom into a confident woman.

TOPHER- A misguided and lost prince who longs to do something of significance with his life. Though brave and heroic, he feels lonely and unfulfilled. Charming, genuine, and kind-hearted.

MADAME- Ella’s wicked Stepmother. The epitome of vanity and fashion. A schemer who values wealth, status, and material possessions above all else. Unapologetically dismissive and sometimes cruel.

SEBASTIAN- Topher’s Prime Minister who is secretly conspiring with Madame to find a bride for Topher. He believes he should rule the kingdom.

MARIE- Local beggar who is also Ella’s Fairy Godmother. Wise, warm, and charming.

GABRIELLE- One of Ella’s stepsister. Despite being encouraged to value wealth and materialism her whole life by her mother, she is actually rather empathetic and witty toward Ella.

CHARLOTTE- One of Ella’s stepsisters. She is very brash, obnoxiously loud, and self-centered. Loves receiving attention.

JEAN-MICHEL- A feisty, passionate peasant determined to make a difference for the working class. He has a crush on Gabrielle, but isn’t allowed to date because of his social class.

LORD PINKLETON- Sebastian’s right-hand man. Announces royal balls, banquets, and even the weather.

SHELBY EATENTON-LATCHERIE - M’Lynn’s daughter, diabetic. Prettiest girl in town, and loved by all. She has a weird relationship with her mother, and often rebels just for the sake of rebellion.

M’LYNN EATENTON - Shelby’s mother. She is overprotective at times and finds the need to have a firm grasp on the world at all times. She is a busy woman who worries too much for her age.
Female, 30-55

OUISER BOUDREAUX - - She is a wealthy old bitty. She is a loveably miserable lady, though. Her unique personality and sense of humor is a great relief in the serious scenes. She is very close to Clairee.
Female, 50+

CLAIREE BELCHER - Widow of the former mayor of Chinquapin. She is wealthy and also knows everyone’s business. She is the sarcastic member of the group. She loves to laugh and poke fun at the little things that others cry over. She is very close with Ouiser.
Female, 50+

TRUVY JONES - Owner of a small town beauty shop. She knows everyone’s business and shares it with anyone who will listen. Southern Belle. She always has advice for you, and it often comes in the form of country sayings.

ANNELLE DUPUY-DESOTO -Young, very shy hair-dresser. She goes from a very soft-spoken person to a bible-loving Christian with her heart on her sleeve.

VIOLET NEWSTEAD - Violet Newstead is a smart, efficient, widowed mother of a teenage son who is constantly being passed up for promotion in the boys’-club world of climbing the corporate ladder. She runs the office from her desk while her boss takes the credit. She is frustrated with her position, but not bitter. Comedic role – witty and sharp. Low Voice.
Female, 20-40/ Vocal Range- Alto

FRANKLIN HART - Franklin Hart is a pompous jerk of a boss. If he weren’t the boss, he would have no friends at all. Was trained by Violet, and then promoted ahead of her, so there is no love lost between them. Spends his time trying to seduce Doralee. Smarmy. Sexist, Egotistical, Lying, Hypocritical, Bigot. Baritone.
Male, 25-40/Vocal Range- Baritone

JUDY BERNLY - Judy Bernly is a meek housewife with her first foray into the working world when her husband runs off with his secretary. Judy changes throughout the play into a force to be reckoned with, taking control of herself and her life. Comedic role – confusion. Medium-high voice.
Female, 20-40/ Vocal Range- Soprano/High Belt

DORALEE RHODES - Doralee Rhodes is a sexy, country gal who is the secretary for the boss, Franklin Hart. She is misunderstood at the beginning of the play due to rumors about an affair with the boss, but comes to be a strong cog in the machine that destroys Hart. Country singing. Comedy is sharp and no-nonsense.

JOE - Charming, attractive accountant who is interested in Violet. Doubles in the Men’s Ensemble.

DICK BERNLY - Judy’ sleazy ex-husband. Also doubles as the detective.

KATHY - Office Gossip. Doubles in the Women’s Ensemble. Doubles as a new employee at the end of the show.

ROZ KEITH - Roz Keith is the office busy-body. She is in love with Mr. Hart, and does everything she can to undermine the rest of the office to earn his affections. Over the top comedic role.
