SEEKING

Equity actors of all identities for SHOW #1 in Remy Bumppo's 2023-24 Season (see breakdown).

PREPARATION

Please prepare 2 contrasting one-minute monologues, ideally one from a historical work and a second contemporary piece. If you have dialect experience, please prepare a piece with a dialect. Please tape your monologues in one continuous video, and upload them digitally using the submission form.

Rehearsals take place during the day or in the evening, decided per production.

To promote the health and safety of all participants, Remy Bumppo requires that all members of the cast, crew, production team, and staff be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Full vaccination is defined as receiving both doses of a two-dose vaccine or a single-dose vaccine at least two weeks prior to an individual’s first day of work on the project.

An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of audition.

Equity encourages everyone participating in the auditions to wear a two-ply cloth face mask, surgical mask, singer’s mask or respirator (N95, KN95 or KF94). Single-ply face masks, gaiters and bandanas are not recommended. Singer’s masks can be found at www.broadwayreliefproject.com/singersmask.

Equity encourages members to prepare for their audition prior to arriving at the audition venue, to the extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and dressing rooms.

Seeking:

All roles will be understudied.

Character 1 - Black. Female identifying. Mid 30’s but reads younger. Singer at a nIght club. Wants to be loved.

Character 2 - Black. Male identifying, 30’s. A costume designer and aspiring designer for Josephine Baker. He loves Character 1 platonically and would do anything to help her.

Character 3 - Black. Female identifying. Mid 20’s. A social worker at a clinic. Somewhat reserved and a little naïve of city life, but with a fire for social progress.

Character 4 - Black. Male identifying. 40’s. A doctor at a Harlem hospital. A good man, doing his best.

Character 5 - Black. Male identifying. Late 20’s. Recently moved to Harlem. Conservative, charming, and religious.
