SEEKING
Very strong dancers who sing and act well. All physical types and ethnicities welcome. Some ensemble members will cover principal roles.
PREPARATION
Please be warmed up and ready to dance when the call begins. Bring character shoes. Some may be asked to stay and sing after all have danced. Please prepare 16 bars of music; singing from the show is fine.

SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER
TONY MANERO (Lead/ Tenor to A) Plays 19, handsome Brooklyn Italian. King of his circle. Projects machismo with a vulnerability beneath. Extremely charismatic. Believable Brooklyn accent, strong dancer with a great pop/rock voice.
FLO MANERO (Lead/ Mezzo) Plays 40 – 60. Tony’s Brooklyn Italian mother. Opinionated, devout Catholic. Movement a plus. MONTY (Lead/ Bari-tenor to G with strong falsetto) Plays 40 – 60, versatile actor/singer/dancer to play two roles.
Monty – handsome womanizing, high-energy, DJ with a genuinely likable nod to 60’s free-spirited sexuality.
FRANK MANERO SR.(Principal – Tony’s Brooklyn Italian, iron-fisted father who leads with inflated pride in the face of unemployment.
STEPHANIE MANGANO (Principal/ Mezzo with belt to D) Plays 20, beautiful Brooklyn Italian. Projects overconfidence and pretension but is really a simple girl trying to be more than what she came from. Must be genuinely likable. Believable Brooklyn accent. Strong voice and very strong dancer.
FRANK JR. (Principal/ Tenor to Ab) Plays 25 – 30, Tony’s brother. Brooklyn Italian, genuine, paternal, spiritual energy. Believable Brooklyn accent, strong mover with a strong pop/rock voice.
BOBBY C (Principal/ Tenor to Ab) Plays 18 – 20, awkward Brooklyn Italian. One of “the Faces” (Tony’s gang). Insecure and needy. A troubled soul who tries too hard. Believable Brooklyn accent, strong mover with a great pop voice.
ANNETTE (Principal/ Mezzo with belt to Eb) Plays 18 – 20, attractive, Innocent, insecure, needy. She tries to mask her vulnerability with toughness. Believable Brooklyn accent. Strong dancer with strong voice
GUYS AND DOLLS
Sky Masterson: Male. Baritone B to Eb. Playing age 25 – 35. Lead role Charismatic, cool and charming. Sky is a suave, intelligent and confident gangster who naturally commands others’ respect and attention. Handsome, with a swagger and sex appeal. Some dance/movement ability would be useful.
Sarah Brown: Female. Soprano to High A. Playing age 18 – 35. Lead role. Conventional, respectable and principled, Sarah is initially a little too buttoned-up for her own good. She has genuine passion for her calling. The actress playing this role has to play convincingly drunk. When under the influence of alcohol she allows her straight-laced persona to slip. Strong movement ability a plus.
Nathan Detroit: Male. Baritone to High F. Playing age 35 – 50. Lead role. Nathan is a lovable rogue, a bit neurotic ,who is always struggling to stay one step ahead of the pack and looking for the big break he never seems to get. Funny, eternally frustrated.
Adelaide: Female. Mezzo to A. Playing age 30s to 40s. Lead role Lead performer at the ‘Hot Box’ a tacky cabaret joint. Strong comic actress with strong dancing ability. She adores Nathan but is driven crazy by his antics.
Nicely Nicely Johnson: Male. Tenor to high B flat. Playing age 28 to 50. Supporting role. One of Nathan Detroit’s henchmen. Comic, cheerful and likeable he delivers hilarious one-liners and a big, Broadway showstopper (‘Sit Down You’re Rockin’ the Boat’).
Benny Southstreet: Male. Baritone. 25 – 55 supporting role. Nicely’s pal with whom he sings the duet ‘Guys & Dolls’ and trio ‘Fugue for Tinhorns’. Upbeat..
Harry the Horse: Male. Supporting role. A gangster. Side kick and mouthpiece to Big Jule. Although he presents a tough exterior he can be funny and likable.
Big Jule: Male. Speaking role. Playing age 30+. Supporting role. Powerful, intimidating, high status gangster from out of town, whose reputation precedes him. A man of few words but much clout. There is comedy in his straight- talking bluntness.
Arvide Abernathy: Male. Baritone 60 – 90 supporting role. Sarah’s grandfather and a member of the Save a Soul mission. Wise, warm and caring. Good singing voice
Rusty Charlie: Male. Baritone 20s and above. Supporting role. Small time gambler. Sings the trio ‘Fugue for Tinhorns’ with Nicely & Benny.
Lt. Brannigan: Male. Non-singing role. Playing age 30+. Supporting role Member of the police force, wise to the gangsters’ exploits. Tries to keep them in order.
General Matilda B. Cartwright: Female mezzo 40 – 65 Supporting role Regional representative of the Save a Soul Mission. Powerful, matronly, no-nonsense with a formidable presence.
