Equity actors for various roles in the 2018 Season to include AS YOU LIKE IT and HENRY IV (1&2 COMBINED)

PREPARATION

Actors should prepare two Shakespearean monologues at least one of which should be comic (three minutes total) and should bring their headshots and résumés to the auditions.

The company is celebrating its eighteenth summer season of free outdoor theater in beautiful Congress Park in downtown Saratoga Springs, NY. Skidmore College is located at 815 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs NY, 12866.

An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition.

BREAKDOWN

Actors are auditioning for the season. All roles are open (except where noted), and in several cases, actors will be cast in both productions. We are seeking male and female performers of all ages, genders and ethnicities to perform all roles, and performers of all ethnic and racial backgrounds and gender identification are strongly encouraged to audition. Actors must move well, be physically fit and have the ability and a felicity to play multiple distinctive characters. Singing, dancing, juggling, stage combat, and/or the ability to play an instrument is a plus, but not a requirement.

Performances July 31st – August 4th.
Seeking a diverse cast for a theatrical and physically demanding outdoor production. Character actors that move well and have experience with fight choreography encouraged to submit.

Special Note: additional casting assignments will be assigned as show is devised and rehearsed

King Henry IV (ALREADY CAST)
King of England. Deeply disappointed in his son and heir, he seeks to reform his son and secure the family legacy in the midst of quelling a rebellion in England.

Prince Hal (ALREADY CAST)
Male, 30s. Henry's eldest son. Transforms from truant prankster to a mature and responsible man. Eventually assumes his place as rightful heir to the throne as King Henry V.

Ensemble 1 MALE
Characters include: Falstaff, surrogate father to Prince Hal. Drunk, lecherous and unrivaled in wit and wordplay; et al

Ensemble 2 MALE/FEMALE
Characters include: Hotspur, Hal's nemesis seeking to redeem his family's name through a rebellion against the King; et al

Ensemble 3: MALE/FEMALE
Characters include: Northumberland, Hotspur's father; Sheriff; Traveler to London; Sir Walter Blunt: Member of the Court; Bardolph, a Falstaff crony; et al

Ensemble 4: FEMALE
Characters include: Westmoreland: Aide-de-camp to King Henry; Mistress Quickly, Hostess of the tavern; Doll Tearsheet, A smart, saucy, knife-wielding, prostitute, and Falstaff's favorite companion”; et al

Ensemble 5: MALE/FEMALE
Characters include: John of Lancaster: Henry's youngest son; Mortimer: Hotspur's brother-in-law; Pistol, A low-life, mean-spirited trickster and criminal mastermind; et al

Ensemble 6: FEMALE
Characters include: Lady Percy, Hotspur's wife; Poins, Hal's partner-in-crime in pranks; et al

Ensemble 7: MALE/FEMALE
Characters include: Worcester, Hotspur's uncle; Glendower, an egotistical Welshman who believes he is supernatural and wants to help the rebellion; Gadshill, Member of Falstaff's circle; Douglas, Renowned fighter from Scotland; et al
