22 adult actors for production of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer at the Majestic Theatre in Dallas.
Note: Equity & Non-Equity roles available. Local hires only. No housing or travel provided.

Preparation
Please prepare a short song appropriate to characters and style of the show.

Bring sheet music in your key, pianist will not transpose. Bring a photo/resume stapled together.

Breakdown

Seeking 22 strong singer/actors (Equity & Non-Equity) with local housing & transportation for musical, stage adaptation of 1964 stop-motion Christmas TV Special. Interested in replication of TV Special voices, as well as strong character voices that reflect the spirit of the originals. Please be familiar with TV Special.

Note: “SNOKEN" are white-costumed, scenic movers and puppet handlers akin to the “Kuroko” in traditional Japanese theatre.

SAM (MALE): A Snowman, has a folksy singing voice in the style of Burl Ives. A strong narrator.

RUDOLPH (MALE): The young reindeer with the shiny red nose. (Note: this role will require stage flying)

HERMEY (MALE): An Elf who wants to be a dentist

CLARICE (FEMALE): A young doe who has eyes for Rudolph.

YUKON CORNELIUS (MALE): Greatest prospector of the North. Bombastic but lovable.
(Doubles as COACH COMET, One of Santa’s lead reindeer who is an aggressive trainer for the young foals)

SANTA (MALE): Older, but “ageless”, Grouchy and skinny for most of the play until he becomes the jolly Santa kids know and love by the end. (Doubles as SNOKEN)

DONNER (MALE): One of Santa's lead reindeer and Rudolph’s father. Embarrassed that Rudolph is different from the other young reindeer. Wants his son to fit in. (Doubles as SNOKEN)

BOSS ELF (MALE): Foreman of Santa’s Elves. He is excitable and a taskmaster. Serves as conductor for the Elf Choir. (Doubles as KING MOONRACER voice of the majestic, winged lion who is king of the Island of Misfit Toys; Also doubles
as a SNOKEN)

MRS. DONNER (FEMALE): Rudolph’s mother. (Doubles as a SNOKEN)

MRS. CLAUS (FEMALE): The wife of Santa Claus. A supportive presence at the North Pole, who is concerned Santa is not eating enough. (Doubles as SNOKEN)

FIREBALL (MALE): An outgoing young reindeer who befriends Rudolph but later ridicules him because of his nose. (Doubles as SNOKEN)

DOLL (FEMALE): A misfit toy. Actor will provide voice and primary movement for this puppet. (Doubles as LEAD SNOKEN)

COWBOY ON OSTRICH (MALE): A misfit toy. Actor will provide voice and primary movement for this puppet. (Doubles as SNOKEN and as YOUNG BUCK, a reindeer)

CHARLIE IN THE BOX (MALE): A misfit toy. Actor will provide voice and primary movement for this puppet. (Doubles as SNOKEN and as YOUNG BUCK, a reindeer)

SPOTTED ELEPHANT (FEMALE): A misfit toy. Actor will provide voice and primary movement for this puppet. (Doubles as SNOKEN and as YOUNG DOE, a reindeer)

BIRDFISH (MALE or FEMALE): A misfit toy. Actor will provide voice and primary movement for this puppet. (Doubles as SNOKEN)

TRAIN WITH SQUARE WHEELS (MALE or FEMALE): A misfit toy. Actor will provide voice and primary movement for this puppet. (Doubles as SNOKEN)

TALL ELF (MALE): A bespectacled elf in the service of Santa Claus. (Doubles as LEAD SNOKEN)

ELVES (4) (MALE AND FEMALE): Happy and diligent makers of Santa’s toys. (Double as SNOKENS)
