All roles require great physically comedic ability, expert facility with various British, German and Russian dialects - and a great capacity for fearless razor sharp melodramatic comedy in the style of ’39 Steps.’
ACTOR 1: Male, 30s, leading man type, Any ethnicity: plays JONATHAN HARKER (RP British dialect), prim and proper (and somewhat obsessive compulsive) real estate agent. Engaged to his childhood crush Lucy Westfeldt. She wishes he would loosen up a little. Once bitten he loosens up…a lot. THREE SUITORS (various dialects): Lord Cavendish, Lord Windsor and Lord Havemercy, played simultaneously with the help of a puppet on either side of his head. BOSUN (Irish dialect): A scurvy seaman who goes down with the ship in a storm. GRAVEDIGGER (cockney dialect): A drunk gravedigger with a secret.
ACTOR 2: Female, 30s-50s. Any ethnicity. Plays all male roles, including DR. WESTFELDT (RP British dialect), Lucy and Mina’s Father, a blowhard; self-important and given to proclamations. A doctor caring for the criminally insane, he has recently lost his wife to consumption. RENFIELD (cockney dialect): insane patient of Dr. Westfeldt who lives to serve and loves to eat bugs. In a word, the dude is nuts. CAPTAIN (sea captain dialect): The scurvy salty captain of a doomed ship caught in a raging storm.
ACTOR 3: Female, 20s-30s. Any ethnicity. Ingenue role. Plays LUCY WESTFELDT (RP dialect): Brilliant earth scientist daughter of Dr. Westfeldt. Is often underestimated because of her beauty. Engaged to Jonathan, but when Dracula moves to Whitby, she is curious about his strange ways and impressed by their similar interests. When her sister is overcome and perishes at the hands of a vampire, she courageously joins the cause. KITTY (cockney dialect): A dotty kleptomaniac patient of Dr. Westfeldt’s, she serves as a maid in his house. Think Mrs. Lovett without a purpose. DRIVER (thick Eastern European or Russian dialect): The male, Transylvanian driver of the carriage carrying Jonathan to Dracula’s castle and tries to warn him.
ACTOR 4: Male, 20s-50s. Any ethnicity. Plays all female roles including MINA WESTFELDT (RP dialect), the less attractive, less intelligent Westfeldt daughter, she lives in her sister Lucy’ shadow and is desperate for attention. Immediately receptive to Dracula’s charms and attention, she jumps a little too willingly at the chance for love, gets infected and eventually succumbs to Dracula’s curse. JEAN VAN HELSING (German dialect): Brilliant vampire hunting doctor from the University of Shmutz. Underestimated because she is a woman, she comes to aid Dr. Westfeldt and track down the perpetrator of Mina’s demise.
ACTOR 5. Male 30s-50s. Any Ethnicity. Plays COUNT DRACULA (Transylvanian dialect). Handsome, charming, sexy and hugely compelling. He also loves to bake. He falls in love with a picture of Lucy Westfeldt when Jonathan comes to sell him real estate and travels to Whitby to find her and make her his bride for eternity.

WILL WATERMAN - 30'S, Caucasian. An Art History professor who still feels like a fat kid with a genius artist father. He's awkward, loveable, and understandably neurotic.
TORY - 40's. Caucasian. Ninth wife of the Jule Waterman. A trophy wokout queen with a heart of something shiny but not gold. She's a tenacious beauty with strong desires and a pushy smile.
ANA - late 20's to mid 30's, of Mexican descent. Married to Will, she's warm, sunny fireballfixated on having a baby.
RAY - 30's or 40's non-caucasian, a dialysis nurse. A lifelong New Yorker, he's seen it all. Ray has a big presence with a big voice. He is very kind and also not a pushover.
JULE WATERMAN - an old white guy in failing health, plays 70's or 80's, He's regarded as one of the greatest sculptors of his or any time. JULE acts and feels like a god/king, and no one tells him differently.
