SEEKING

Equity actors and actor/singer/musicians for 2 shows. Versatile acting skills needed to play multiple roles. Actors of all ethnicities are encouraged to audition. See breakdown.

Actors will read from SIDES, provided on request when making an appointment, or at the theatre on the day of.

For those auditioning for THEY BUILT AMERICA:

Be prepared to sing Oh! That Low Bridge or Fifteen Miles on the Erie Canal. Lead sheets available and provided upon request when making an appointment, or available at the theatre.

OTHER

For the past decade, Capital Repertory Theatre’s TYA Touring “On-The-Go” productions have been presented in a variety of schools and environments throughout the Capital Region to very diverse audiences. Actors should enjoy performing for and interacting with young audiences (elementary and middle school students). There are post-show discussions after every performance (time permitting). Actors must also be collegial and adaptive. There are no overnight stays on tour. The workweek is Mon-Sat

An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition.

Students will celebrate the 100th anniversary of women’s right to vote in New York State with this powerful production. Petticoats of Steel uses primary sources, in a Living Newspaper style drama, to feature the true stories of the women of New York State. Actors will portray Susan B. Anthony, Sojourner Truth and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, among others, highlighting the roles they played in gaining voting rights for all women of the United States of America.

Seeking:

Female 1
Physically adept actor who will portray a variety of characters both male and female including Sojourner Truth, Lucretia Mott, and Hartiet Tubman. Characters' ages 20s-30s.

Female 2
Physically adept actor who will portray a variety of characters both male and female including Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Clara Barton. Characters' ages 20s-30s.

They Built America, a new original work, will introduce students and audiences to the real men, women and children, the politicians, farmers, merchants and laborers who came north to build the Erie Canal. The story of Kelly McPhearson unfolds, that of an undercover female worker on the canal, detailing the creation of this miraculous waterway that transformed America from a burgeoning country into a great nation.

Seeking:

Male 1 and 2
(2) Physically adept actor/musicians who will portray a variety of characters ie: Politicians, Immigrant Workers, Canal Engineers, etc. Good with accents (Irish, German, Italian and Norwegian), and can play the guitar, banjo, or fiddle (violin). Harmonica and melodica players a plus. Characters' ages 20s-40s.

Female 1 and 2
(2) Physically adept actor/musicians to portray a variety of characters, both male and female, ie: Politicians, Immigrant Workers, Canal Engineers, etc. Good with accents (Irish, English, German, Italian and Norwegian), and can play guitar, banjo, or fiddle (violin). Hand-drum a plus. Characters' ages 20s-40s.
