Equity appointments are scheduled in five-minute intervals, and each Equity Member has three minutes to audition. Equity Members without appointments will be seen throughout the audition day as time permits.

CONTRACT

NEAT CATEGORY 6 (MINIMUM WEEKLY SALARY: $473.)

SEEKING

Equity actors and singers for various roles in the upcoming 2019-20 season.

Actors of all racial and ethnic backgrounds, gender identities, and actors with disabilities are strongly encouraged to audition.

Also seeking an Equity Stage Manager (see separate notice on Casting Call for submission info)

PREPARATION

Please prepare material of your choice (including, if you wish, selections from the season’s repertoire). For those who wish to perform a scene, sides and a reader will be available. An accompanist will be present for those who wish to sing. Please be prepared to state your starting and stopping places.

Please bring a picture and resume, stapled together.

*PRESIDENT RICHARD NIXON: Role CAST. Male, 61. Nixon on the evening before his resignation is announced in 1974. Pragmatic and relentlessly ambitious.

*SECRETARY OF STATE HENRY KISSINGER: Role CSAT. Male, 51. American statesman,former Jewish Refugee who fled Nazi Germany. Nixon’s intellectual, strategic, and worldly right-hand-man.

JONATHAN: Male, late 20s. Gentile living in Manhattan. Charismatic, impulsive, hungry for purpose.

LEAH: Female, late 20s. Secular Jew living in Manhattan. All of the above.

OLIVER TWIST: Male, 8-12. An orphan workhouse boy about 11 years of age, longing for a family.

*FAGIN: Role CAST. Male, 50-70. A scheming and captivating criminal career man - runs training academy for young pickpockets.

THE ARTFUL DODGER: Male, 14-18. Fagin's best pickpocket who introduces him to Oliver.

NANCY: Female, 20-25. A former member of Fagin’s academy, now a compassionate and friendly adult. Wife to the volatile Bill Sikes.

BILL SIKES: Male, 30-45. Fagin’s brutal and hotheaded associate, a pickpocket-turned-house-burglar.

BET: Female, 14-18. Another girl in Fagin's establishment, kind, youthful, and idolizes Nancy.

MR. BUMBLE: Male, 35-60. A large and pompous workhouse official.

MR. BROWNLOW: Male, 55-70. Oliver’s grandfather, a kind man of wealth and inherited status.

MR. SOWERBERRY: Male, 45-60. The undertaker. Vicious and spiteful.

MRS. SOWERBERRY: Female, 45-60. Mr. Sowerberry's wife and his overseer.

NOAH CLAYPOLE: Male, 18-25. Mr. Sowerberry's brash apprentice, a bully towards Oliver.

CHARLOTTE SOWERBERRY: Female, 18-25. The bad-mannered daughter of the Sowerberry’s. Has a flirtatious relationship with Noah Claypole.

MR. GRIMWIG: Male, 30-50. A foppish and curmudgeonly doctor, assists Mr. Brownlow.

MRS. BEDWIN: Female, 45-60. The Brownlow’s warm and generous housekeeper.

OLD SALLY: Female, 50-70. A deceitful poor woman, nurse at Oliver’s birth who stole the locket that is the only key to his identity.

MRS. CORNEY: Female, 35-60. The pitiless matron of the workhouse. A widow.

CHARLEY BATES: Male, 10-18. A boy in Fagin’s establishment, sticks together with the Artful Dodger and Oliver.

ENSEMBLE: Boys and girls of the workhouse and Fagin’s gang.

*EDITH PIAF: Role CAST. Female, 30-40. The iconic singer throughout all stages of her life and career. Tenacious, impulsive, battling her life’s circumstances with her talent.

ENSEMBLE 1: Female, 30-40. Plays multiple characters including Piaf’s friends and fellow singers.

ENSEMBLE 2: Male, 30-40. Plays multiple characters including Piaf’s managers, lovers, and doctors.

ENSEMBLE 3: Male, 30-40. Plays multiple characters including Piaf’s managers, lovers, and doctors.

Musical ability (singing, instruments) is preferred, but not required.

TROY MAXSON: African American Male, 50's-60's. Hardworking and proud, but discontented with what life has given in return for his efforts.

CORY MAXSON: African American Male, 18-25. Troy and Rose's teenage son. A compassionate and respectful senior in high school. Has the talent and determination to achieve success in sports and school.

ROSE MAXSON: African American Female, 40’s-50’s. Generous, loving wife and mother whose realism holds the family together.

GABRIEL MAXSON: African American Male, 50’s-60’s. Troy’s younger brother. Received damaging head trauma during his service in World War Two

JIM BONO: African American Male, 50’s-60’s. Troy’s loyal friend and coworker.

LYONS MAXSON: African American Male, 20’s-30’s. Troy’s oldest son by previous marriage. Aspiring musician struggling to make his living.

RAYNELL MAXSON: African American Female, 7-12. Troy’s daughter from a relationship outside of his marriage with Rose.
