BREAKDOWN

Equity encourages everyone participating in the auditions to wear a two-ply cloth face mask, surgical
mask, singer’s mask or respirator (N95, KN95 or KF94). Single-ply face masks, gaiters and bandanas
are not recommended. Singer’s masks can be found at www.broadwayreliefproject.com/singersmask.
Equity encourages members to prepare for their audition prior to arriving at the audition venue, to the
extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and
dressing rooms.

Holding/Audition room information:

The audition room can accommodate no more than 10 individuals at a time.

The holding room can accommodate no more than 5 individuals at a time.

Seeking:

Understudy for Narrator/Ruth Brown: Black female (20’s to 50’s) vocalist with strong R&B and jazz
skills to understudy Narrator/Ruth Brown. Female, 20-50s, alto; engaging, and able to captivate the
audience; the performer never leaves the stage, telling the story of Ruth Brown’s life through story and
song. Has a strong R&B/jazz voice, and an ease talking to an audience. The understudy will also
serve as the Assistant Stage Manager, which will include a very minimal backstage track when the
Stage Manager is out for a performance. Ethnicity: Black
