Seeking:

Pepper - Male, 20-25. A flirty waiter at the Taverna featured through his brief relationship with Tanya. Hot, energetic, and fun-loving, makes a great double-act with Eddie. A good mover. (Take a Chance on Me, among others)

Eddie - Male, 20-30. A waiter, boatman, and handyman at the Taverna. Other half of double-act with Pepper.

Father Alexandrios - Any gender and ethnicity, 30-60. The minister who officiates Sophie’s wedding. Ensemble singing.

Ensemble - 20s-50s. People of the island, wedding guests. Good ensemble singers who move well.

Roles cast:

Sophie Sheridan - 20-25. After finding her mother Donna's old diary, Sophie discovers that she might have 3 possible fathers and is determined to have her real father walk her down the aisle at her wedding.

Donna Sheridan - 40-50. Former lead singer of Donna and the Dynamos.

Sam Carmichael - 40-50, one of Sophie's possible fathers. An American architect.

Bill Austin - 40-50, One of Sophie's possible fathers. Writer and adventurer.

Harry Bright - 40-50. One of Sophie's possible fathers, formerly known as “Head Banger”, he is now a banker.

Sky - 20-30. Sophie's fiancé, romantic and athletic.

Tanya - 40-50. One of Donna's best friends and former member of Donna and the Dynamos.

Rosie - 40-50. One of Donna's best friends and former member of Donna and the Dynamos.

Lisa - 20-25. One of Sophie's best friends and a bridesmaid at her wedding.

Ali - 20-25. One of Sophie's best friends and a bridesmaid at her wedding.

Milly - Female, 75. Milly is quick and funny, although she spends much of the play bemoaning her age and ailments. Has excellent comic timing and a good facility with line memorization. Can carry a tune.

Murray - Male, 75. Murray is Milly’s husband and one half of the comic team. He is older than Milly by two months and two days, uses a cane, and is very frustrated by his failing health. Has excellent comic timing and good facility with line memorization. Can carry a tune.

Virginia Butley - Female, 60s-mid-70s, White. Smart, likeable, assertive, direct, no-nonsense engineer. Originally blue-collar from Buffalo, now an upscale Washington DC resident.

Seeking:

Amanda Wingfield - Female, Mid-40s-early 60s. Laura and Tom’s mother, Amanda is a proud, vivacious woman who clings to memories of the past and is at the same time courageous and foolish, charming and pitiable.

Laura Wingfield - Female, Mid-20s-early 30s. Amanda’s daughter and Tom’s older sister, Laura suffers the results of a childhood illness which left one of her legs malformed and in a brace. As a result, Laura is painfully shy and has withdrawn herself from the outside world. She is much like her beloved glass figurines: delicate and frail.

Jim OConnor - Male, Mid-20s-early 30s, African American. The gentleman caller, Jim is an old high school acquaintance of Laura and Tom and now works in the same shoe factory as Tom. Upbeat, he is a nice, ordinary, young man.

Tom Wingfield - CAST. Male-early 30s. The play’s narrator.

BUDDY: THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY

All characters are great singers in the 1950s/60s rock and roll style, great with harmonies and quick studies.

Buddy Holly - Male, 18-30. A singer-songwriter and star from Lubbock, Texas. Buddy is intelligent, charismatic, most likely 6’ or over. Plays guitar, has a great feel for rock ‘n’ roll. Serious star potential and has a desire to live as a rock ‘n’ roll superstar every night.

Joe B. Mauldin - Male, 18-30. Double bass player from Lubbock, Texas. Serious, very square with great musical ability.

Jerry Allis - Male, 18-30. Drummer from Lubbock, Texas. Good looking, irrepressible cheeky guy. Great rock and roll drummer.

Ritchie Valens (and others) - Male, Latino, 18-25. Handsome with serious charisma, a dedicated eye for the ladies, and the ability to hold the stage in his own right. His key song is “La Bamba.” Ability to play a musical instrument a plus.

The Big Bopper (and others) - Male, 18-64. A former DJ, he is a Texan with an irrepressible larger than-life character with the ability to command the stage on his own as a single performer. His key song is “Chantilly Lace.” Ability to play a musical instrument a plus.

Maria Elena Holly/Hayrider/Snow Bird - Female, 18-25, Latina. Attractive and classy wife of Buddy Holly. Ability to play any instrument is a huge plus.

Hipockets Duncan - Male, 18-40. An exuberant hometown radio DJ from Lubbock, Texas, with an air of authority and a keen sense of humor. Ability to play a musical instrument a plus.

Norman Petty (and others) - Male, 18-40. A record producer from Clovis, New Mexico, with a businesslike manner and a love of making records. Ability to play a musical instrument a plus.

Vi Petty/Hayrider - Female, 18-40. Norman Petty’s wife who has a heart of gold. Has exceptional rock ‘n’ roll keyboard ability, with a good sense of humor.

Male Apollo Performer - Male, 22-40, African American. Great singer with great comic timing. Ability to hold the stage on his own. Ability to play a musical instrument a plus.

Female Apollo Performer -Female, 18-50, African American. Singer with great comic timing. Ability to hold the stage on her own. The ability to play a musical instrument is an advantage but not a prerequisite.

Requirement for proof of vaccination/negative test.
Everyone entering the audition venue (i.e. venue employees, Equity members, non-members, casting
personnel, creatives, producers, musicians, COVID Safety Managers, etc.) will be required to undergo
a symptom check and provide proof of full vaccination. “Fully vaccinated,” as defined by the CDC, is
more than 14 calendar days following receipt of a final dose of an FDA or World Health Organization
authorized or approved vaccine.
Two-ply cloth face masks, surgical masks, singer’s masks and respirators (N95, KN95 or KF94) will be
allowed for face coverings. Single-ply face masks, gaiters and bandanas are not acceptable face
coverings. Everyone in the holding room and audition room will always wear a face covering as
described above, except for the actor when they are actively auditioning. The time spent unmasked
should be as minimal as possible. Face coverings must be worn correctly (covering the nose and

If the risk level for West Springfield is trending upwards and may rise to High (Red) we will contact
members with appointments at least 24 hours before the first audition appointment time to let them
know there is a chance that the auditions may need to be postponed or cancelled. All members with
appointments will be notified if the auditions must be postponed or cancelled.
We encourage members to prepare for their audition at home, to the extent that they can (e.g., get
dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and dressing rooms. Additional

Holding/Audition room information:

The audition room is 2700 square feet and can accommodate no more than 27 individuals at a time.

The holding room is 875 square feet and can accommodate no more than 24 individuals at a time.
