Breakdown
Seeking 9 versatile males who are able to enliven both the language and physical elements of this literary classic. Movement experience is a plus, but not required. The director is interested in both age-appropriate actors, as well as adults who could read between the ages of 13-25.
Audition appointment, headshot and resume are required. Equity and Non-Equity roles are available. Scripts are available for perusal at WTT Box Office (open Tues-Fri 12-6) and S.T.A.G.E. These roles are local hire only. No housing or travel can be provided.
BREAKDOWN
RALPH – Male, any ethnicity. Charismatic, affable and athletic. Natural leader, but is conflicted about being one. More sensitive than he lets on.
PIGGY – Male, any ethnicity. Chubby, smart, and completely lacking in social skills. Sweet-natured, but with a reservoir of anger bubbling underneath. Respects order, procedure and the democratic process of running things.
JACK – Male, any ethnicity. Not a boy of intellect, but of physical strength. Fearless with a tremendous survival instinct. He’s totally uncompromising and a great manipulator.
ROGER – Male, any ethnicity. He is quiet and dangerous. At first he doesn’t draw attention to himself, but then all at once becomes a dark, dangerous creature who can be extremely intimidating.
SIMON – Male, any ethnicity. Innocent, smart, but a little other-worldly. He observes the world around him in a very different way than his peers.
SAM and ERIC – Male, any ethnicity. Twins who are followers, not leaders. Without each other they are fairly useless.
MAURICE – Male, any ethnicity. Humorous extrovert who becomes one of Jack’s key supporters, despite altruistic beginnings, he develops a fear for Jack’s cruelty and turns to savagery like many of the boys on the island.
PERCEVAL – Male, any ethnicity. The youngest boy of the group. Small and easily frightened.
