Seeking
Singers, Dancers and Actors. All those auditioning must be 18 years of age or older. We typically hire 2-4 Equity contracts per show and the rest of the roles will be cast from non-union actors. Please see breakdowns for character descriptions.

Preparation
DANCE CALL - Anne: character shoes. Jean-Michel: character, sneakers or jazz shoes. Cagelles: Tap shoes, jazz shoes, and heels if you have them but they are NOT required.

Breakdown

Singers, Dancers and Actors. All those auditioning must be 18 years of age or older. We typically hire 2-4 Equity contracts per show and the rest of the roles will be cast from non-union actors. We do have some housing for out of town actors. You must attend the calls in San Diego to be considered. No video or out of state submissions accepted at this time.

Please note: All those attending the dance call may be reading sides but you will not be singing unless you are invited to the callback.

PRINCIPALS:
Albin - (EQUITY OFFER PENDING) a performer of star quality; mature; great powerhouse of a Broadway voice; fine comic actor.

Georges - (EQUITY OFFER PENDING) a star, mature and attractive; good singer; energetic, loving and caring; must move well.

Jean-Michel - must appear to be 20 years old; handsome, masculine, well-mannered, educated; desperately in love with his fiancee, Anne; lyric baritone who acts, sings and dances well. Must attend both the dance and singer call.

Jacob – black, latino or asian male butler/maid in his 20’s/early 30’s; brilliant comedian who sings and moves well.

Anne – 18-21; Jean-Michel’s fiancée; lovely to look at; spunky; a superb dancer who acts well. Must attend both the dance and singer call.

Dindon – Anne’s father; right-wing radical politician; pompous; quirky; must sing, move well, and be a fine comedian.

Marie Dindon – Anne’s mother; 48-52, shy, retiring, sexually repressed and sex starved; good singer and actress who moves well; must look great in a leotard for the finale.

Jacqueline – mature, female friend of Georges and Albin; owns a chic restaurant; attractive, charming; very theatrical. Will also double as a townsperson.

Renaud – mature, male friend of Georges and Albin; owns a small cafe. Will also double as a townsperson.

Francis – male stage manager in Georges’ club; strong actor who moves well.

CAGELLES: ethnically diverse men to play drag queens. All are required to be triple threat performers. Outstanding dancers in musical theatre style, jazz, ballet and tap. Acrobatics, aerial skills and pointe work are all a plus but not required by all men.

Hanna - German, tall, imposing, strong, good actor. German accent. In a relationship with Francis the stage manager.

Chantal - the songbird of the group. male soprano. Sings a solo bit in operatic falsetto.

Mercedes - a fierce queen

Bitelle - so beautiful she could pass as a woman. Outspoken and sassy.

Angelique - the strong silent type. Not the most feminine of the bunch.

Phaedra - the enigma, happy go lucky.
