SPT SPT 6; Equity Minimum: $443 /week

SEEKING

Actor/singers for two-person show. Atlanta-based actors or actors who have Atlanta housing and are able to work as local jobbers are highly encouraged to audition.

PREPARATION

Sides will be provided. Please prepare two contrasting songs in a jazz/blues/soul genre. If you have not been seen at Horizon before, please also prepare two contrasting contemporary monologues. Please bring two photos and resumes.

BREAKDOWN

Synopsis: Klook is a drifter who’s gotten too old to drift. Vinette is on the run but she doesn’t know what’s chasing her.
Together they make a tentative stab at happiness, before the past they are evading begins to catch up with them. Tough, tender, funny and poignant with soulful music and lyrical words, the story is a mix of spoken word and song with a jazz underscore.

Seeking:

Klook:
Late 40s-late 50s. African-American male. Drifter with a difficult past who finds unexpected love with a younger woman. Smart, attractive. Has served time in prison. Loves African-American literature and music. Role requires an actor who sings.

Vinette:
Late 20s-mid 30s. African-American female. Woman with a past trying to start a new life. Has a son who is being raised by his grandmother. Healing from some difficult past relationships. Seeking the confidence and courage to become a writer. Loves African-American literature and music. Role requires an actor who sings
