Equity actors for roles in Jewish Ensemble Theatre's 2022-23 Season to include THE FULL MONTY and AMADEUS (see breakdown).

PREPARATION

Please prepare a brief contemporary monologue. You may also prepare a brief cut of a song of your choosing (optional). An accompanist will be provided.

THE FULL MONTY

Roles:

Jerry Lukowski: An unemployed mill worker, fighting to maintain his pride and the custody of his only son. All-American jock and the definitive man's man. Spontaneous. Very prideful. Gender: Male Age: 30 to 40 Vocal range top: D6 Vocal range bottom: C4

Pam Lukowski: Jerry's estranged wife and high school sweetheart. She wants what is best for her son. Strong business woman, but also compassionate and motherly. Gender: Female Age: 25 to 35 Vocal range top: A5 Vocal range bottom: B3

Dave Bukatinsky: Jerry's best friend and fellow unemployed mill worker. Very much a man's man, but more of a follower than leader. The definitive sidekick. Prideful. Self-conscious about his size. Gender: Male Age: 30 to 40 Vocal range top: E6 Vocal range bottom: C4

Georgie Bukatinsky: Dave's wife. She loves her husband, and worries about him. Loud, outgoing and brash. She is the leader of her group of girlfriends. Gender: Female Age: 30 to 40 Vocal range top: bottom G3

Harold Nichols: An unemployed supervisor at the mill. Hot Metal's choreographer. Thinks his worth comes from providing for his wife, so he hides his unemployment from her. Gender: Male Age: 35 to 45 Vocal range top: A5 Vocal range bottom: B3

Vicki Nichols: Harold's wife. She enjoys the finer things in life. Loves her husband more than anything, and supports him no matter what. Gender: Female Age: 30 to 40 Vocal range top: A5 Vocal range bottom: G3

Malcolm Macgregor: An unemployed mill worker. Lives at home with his mother. Depressed, suicidal, awkward, and feeble. Pigeon-chested. Finds comfort in Ethan. Gender: Male Age: 25 to 35 Vocal range top: E6 Vocal range bottom: C4

Ethan Girard: An unemployed mill worker. Lonely. Has a blind determination and confidence to succeed. Finds company with Malcolm. Gender: Male Age: 25 to 35 Vocal range top: A5 Vocal range bottom: D3

Noah horse T. Simmons: A retired mill worker. Embarrassed about being an average sized Black man. Despite being old and slow when walking, he still has explosive dance moves. Frequently grumpy. Gender: Male Age: 50 to 60 Vocal range top: B5 Vocal range bottom: F2

Jeanette Burmeister: A piano player of indeterminate years and show-business pro. Sassy, quick-witted, and larger than life. Has slowed down in recent years. Gender: Female Age: 65 to 75 Vocal range top: B5 Vocal range bottom: F4

Roles:

Antonio Salieri: Court composer.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: A child prodigy from Salzburg, Austria, and a genius composer.

Constanze (Stanzi) Weber: Mozart’s wife.

Joseph II: Emperor of Austria.

Count Johann Kilian von Strack: Chamberlain of the Imperial Chamber.

Count Franz Orsini-Rosenberg: Director of the Imperial Opera.

Baron Gottfried van Swieten: Prefect of the Imperial Library

Kapellmeister Guiseppe Bonno: The Royal choral director.

“Venticelli”: Gossips who work for Salieri.

Teresa Salieri: Wife of Salieri.

Katherina Cavalieri: Salieri’s promising pupil.

Major-Domo: A servant of a prominent baroness.

Priest: A priest.

Ensemble: Servants and Citizens of Vienna, Salieri’s Valet and Cook.

Requirement for proof of vaccination/negative test.

Everyone entering the audition venue (i.e., venue employees, Equity members, non-members, casting personnel, creatives, producers, musicians, COVID Safety Managers, etc.) will be required to undergo a symptom check and provide one of the following prior to entry into the venue:

- Proof of full vaccination. “Fully vaccinated,” as defined by the CDC, is more than 14 calendar days following receipt of a final dose of an FDA or World Health Organization authorized or approved vaccine.

Two-ply cloth face masks, surgical masks, singer’s masks and respirators (N95, KN95 or KF94) will be allowed for face coverings. Single-ply face masks, gaiters and bandanas are not acceptable face coverings. Everyone in the holding room and audition room will always wear a face covering as described above, except for the actor when they are actively auditioning. The time spent unmasked should be as minimal as possible. Face coverings must be worn correctly (covering the nose and mouth). If the risk level for Oakland County is trending upwards and may rise to High (Red) we will contact members with appointments at least 24 hours before the first audition appointment time to let them know there is a chance that the auditions Revised March 14, 2022 may need to be postponed or cancelled. All members with appointments will be notified if the auditions must be postponed or cancelled.

We encourage members to prepare for their audition at home, to the extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and dressing rooms. Additional information required in notice:

Holding/Audition room information:

The audition room is 3000 square feet and can accommodate no more than 30 individuals at a time.

The holding room is 1000 square feet and can accommodate no more than 27 individuals at a time.
